Impressive build! Do you recall what ERL's recommendation for lifter preload was?

The motor was fairly noisy when we first started it. So we went and remeasured everything. Then we went back to all the parts suppliers to be sure they liked where we were. Changes we made in trying to get the motor to run quiet (er) included removing the Yella Terra rockers to GM LS7's and lowering the valve spring pressures slightly per Comp Cam's recommendation. Still a little too noisy. Lunati suggested to rev the shit out of it to be sure the lifters pressured up. We didn't try that. Lunati recommeded a 30/1000th's preload and ERL had built several using 70/1000th's. We sort of split the baby and went 55/1000th's and the motor quieted right up.

Man that is sweet. Makes my new 454 feel inadequate.

I haven't gotten around to getting some audio/video of the motor running or at idle. I have some at the road track, but pretty boring stuff. 2 inch headers into a full 3 inch exhaust. Here's a dyno video but the exhaust is away from the camera. I have cutouts to really make it loud!

Love it. Nice build. Erl are great to work with and their blocks are done right. Want to build a Erl superdeck 468 for my next car.

Next up is the dry sump system. We had Daily Engineering spec a 5 stage system with an air/oil separator incorporated. Parts should arrive in 2 weeks. We'll do an install of dry sump, a/c and heater delete, rear seat delete and fire supression install at that time. I want to have it all done before the cool weather track sessions begin.

Here are pics of the Dailey Engineering pieces. Won't see much of them once installed. 5 stage dry sump system.
