I have three customers that I called this morning to let them know that they can't get this option at the moment. I have been ordering cars for the same dealership for 15 years or better and I know I shoudn't have been surprised but I just can't believe that this would happen. This car has been in the works long enough that there shouldn't have been ANY constraints on sold orders. I also know that we can't promise that there will be a replacement for it at a later date, if anybody waiting for shorty headers from GM can tell you.

Has anyone in Canada got a call about this issue yet?

So what about those of us already at 3000, mine was picked up during the first consensus, and is currently at 3000 status?

Those that are at 3000 are fine. Nice 69 by the way.

So those that got accepted last month with the B92 option and moved to 3000 will get an Exposed CF Hood on their cars. And those who are at 2030 and waiting will not be able to get the B92 Exposed CF Hood for the fore seeable future, correct?

An issue has developed with the 2012 Camaro ZL1 optional Exposed Carbon Fiber Weave Hood Insert (RPO: B92) that requires Chevrolet to place a "zero availability" constraint on this option. The constraint will be in place for this week's 2012 ZL1 exclusive Dealer Order Submission Process (DOSP) cycle (Thursday, January 5 through Tuesday, January 10, 2012).

Your dealership has been identified as one of the dealers receiving 2012 ZL1 allocation during this week's exclusive DOSP cycle. You are requested to immediately review your orders and remove the RPO: B92 from your buildable orders, or submit a 2012 Camaro ZL1 order WITHOUT RPO: B92 (the optional Exposed Carbon Fiber Weave Hood Insert) by Saturday, January 7, 2012.

If you have ordered the optional Dark Gray Roof and Rear Deck Lid Stripe (RPO: DSW) as well, please change the stripe to Black Roof and Rear Deck Lid Stripe (RPO: DSX), or remove the stripe option.

Please understand, if you do not take action, you risk losing your production allocation for this DOSP cycle, or having a pattern order 2012 Camaro ZL1 generated for your dealership.

It is unclear at this time how long this option will remain on constraint. Please monitor the weekly order constraint wire for updates.

We apologize for the inconvenience this unforeseen issue has caused you and your dealership.

Either the order will be held on constraint or the car will be built without it.

I know several people in years past who spec ordered a vehicle from GM, only to have it show up with different options than specified. I am one of those. There is no guarantee you will get exactly the vehicle you order.

My example, 2006 Trailblazer SS, ordered with all options, including both sunroof and DVD entertainment system, the vehicle arrived with the sunroof but no DVD player. Was told they would not build with both, even though the order system accepted it. My choices were to take the vehicle as it sat, cancel the order, or get back in line while another order is started. Took the vehicle. In less than 2 months I saw another TBSS with both.

As of today, when your dealer runs a "Pass One", if your order has a constrained option, the car will not pass. If the dealer doesn't remove the option, they will lose that spot if they don't have another order to replace it.

My buddy at GM just called me to let know what was going on with the hood. He did not know that my dealer had already called me. The problem is with the epoxy for the insert. They have the hoods because they are the same, meaning that they either prime and paint or clear with the epoxy from Dupont. Nobody has the answer as to how soon they will get the epoxy, but being on how that is what the problem is, I don't think it's going to be months and months before it is resolved. I also don't think everybody that was at 3000 are going to get the exposed hood. At that point I think GM was under the understanding that they would have the epoxy by time for production. My friend also said they are starting production in two weeks on the car, not the hood. Hope this helps everyone. I saw one guy said it was due to cost and that is not true.

We are working through issues with this option and it will eventually be available both as an orderable option - or as a Service Part (meaning that you can have it installed at a later date)

While we regret that we can't offer it at Start of Production, we take actions such as this in the name of Product Quality which is always our first priority.

Thus, you may want to discuss this with your dealer and remove the option for now.

That is correct. It doesnt happen very often that cars or trucks with the event code at 3000 are returned but there are exceptions.
