Pulled the trigger.

I went with Synergy Motorsports.

RotoFab CAI
1 7/8" ARH Long System w/ High Flows
NGK TR7IX-N Plugs
91 Tune

Rick suggested ARH headers and NGK TR7IX-N plugs which was a divergence from my original plan.

I should get it installed after a few weeks when the parts arrive and they have an opening.

I was very pleased to hear that Synergy Motorsports has a good relationship with Abel Chevrolet, hopefully this helps in the event of any legit warranty needs.

And now for the worst part... The waiting...

Post a video clip when you get it installed and keep the thread updated on how long your high flow cats last

Will do.

What's the typical life-expectancy of high-flow cats?

I've never kept a car longer than 3 years so that's all I need.

Well since these are supercharged cars I have been told, and reading on the forums that high flow cats will for sure blow out due to all the pressure and heat of the exhaust but there is no set time frame, it depends on driving conditions.

3 years would be a miracle from what I understand lol.

Really? Seems like I did not do the necessary research...

What happens when it blows out? CEL? Won't pass smog?

Whats the fix? Plug-n-Play some new high-flow cats for a few $$ ?

I wish it was that simple but there will be no indicator letting you know that your high flow cats have been damaged. You will start to either hear weird noise from your exhaust like its clogged or your performance will suffer or you blow up(exaggerating) lmao.... Based on my research of course haha.

The fix is to go cat-less or remove the long tubes lol.

There is no cure all of them will eventually blow out. Jannetty sells the super cats so those might hold up better. Make sure your tuner does not disable the cat over temp protection. You did not say you were overdriving the SC. If not I would not worry about it. Check the cats once a year.

So, question relating to the original question of "factory or performance" connet..... can the performance connect to the OEM cats? I found an awesome deal on some SW cb but its the performance connect sku number.... i want headers eventually but want to keep the warranty for a bit longer... will the CB connect to my oem cats?

How do you check the cats? Are you just referring to a visual inspection?

.

Performance connect is 3", factory connect is 2.5", so no it won't fit your OEM cats. What kind of deal did you find? I really like the retro cat back and am thinking of changing my NPP to that setup.

The Performance Connect is designed to connect to the Stainless Works or Stainless Power Headers. It will not work with factory manifolds unfortunately.

I've heard that you should just gut the cats to avoid damaging your engine when they go...
