"Does it have the 427?"

I am getting a little annoyed being asked 2 or 3 times a day at the track if my ZL1 has the 427 in it.

I answer nicely with the specifics of the LSA and that it is a 376 (6.2L) supercharged motor.

I always amazes me how surprised they are to hear that it is not a 427.

I had a guy last week ask this question and when I told him it was an SC 376 LSA, he asked why I didn't get the quicker 427 Z/28?

I don't expect everybody to know the ins and outs of the Gen 5 but these are drag racers with a lot of time and money in their cars. They should know the basics anyway.

I wonder if these same people will ask the C7 Z06 guys if their car has the 427 in it?

I am getting tired of the same old questions.
I might start answering with it has a V6 and keep the hood down...

Just shrug your shoulders and say, "I don't know" or "What's a 427?".

That will REALLY throw them!

I don't get why either.

People are so stuck on the size of motors and the number of cylinders.

That is largely irrelevant in 2015.

Its the power being put to the ground that matters and the ZL1 is king of the 5th gens in that department.

Maybe just answer with "323" and walk away.

Pretend like I thought they were asking about the rear gears...

duh this car is the one with corvette motor right?

normal people really don't understand the power train on this car. I gave up long ago. I just nod my head and say yes to what ever they say.

at first I though I would just explain it but the look on people faces when you explain it is one of your the dumb one and I got tired of it. normal people just like simple answers.

The other annoyances are the ones who ask you about your car - but before you even answer - start to tell you either 1) about one they have/had/are going to get that is faster or 2) start to tell you about YOUR OWN car as if they are the expert BUT have nothing right.

Crazy world out there.

I feel your pain. I guess it's the wide black wheels and dovetail spoiler, but I get asked if my car is a Z/28 on a regular basis. Even at the alignment shop, they have different alignment specs for the SS and Z/28, and the techs always have to ask me which one I have.

They're drag racers and they think the Z28 is quicker than the ZL1?
