blind spot monitors going off in the rain.

I try not to get caught in the rain with my car but i did yesterday and the blind spot lights were going on and off the whole way home. Been caught in the rain 3 times and it always does it. it was dark out so very annoying. is this normal or should I take it in?

Maybe your car is afraid of rain? I take mine in the rain and that never happens.

My driver side does this in the rain, but not the passenger side. But since it rarely rains here in AZ, it's not a huge deal.

I believe our systems are radar based detectors. Calibration of these can be quite involved. Rain is a known source of false alarms. I suppose it comes down to, "How bad is it?" with regard to the false alarms.

It happens to me sometimes when there are no cars on the road and no rain (8 lane highway so there are no nearby objects to set it off).
I don't know what is triggering it.
It's rare, so I haven't tried to have it looked at because of course it won't happen for the dealer.

Our Toyota RAV4 has the blind spot monitoring and rain does not affect them.

Seems that GM should ALSO be able to calibrate the system so that the darned computer can tell the difference between a heavy rain and 2 ton car!

You need to get a hydrophobic surface on the sensor. Find the sensors and wipe them clean with a little rubbing alcohol. Then wax them with a good sealant or wax, and buff off. Problem solved, worked on my C7.....

I'm just glad that unlike Hill Assist, there's the capability to turn it off. I had enough of it 3 days into owning the car and it's been off ever since.

I live in Houston and it is my daily driver. Get hit with heavy rain all the time and never had this issue.

Happened to me a couple of times early on but not recently. Maybe that's because I've been using the Blackfire Crystal Seal and fixed the problem without realizing it.
