SCT X4

I'm pissed. Just bought this n found out that I can't adjust transmission shift pressure points with it on my 2014 camaro according to SCT. I called them before I bought it and was told I could. It has to be done with a custom tune they said. What a bunch of crap. I can disable the DOD but can't change trans.

Well I talked to WCP.com where I bought it from and found out that the canned tunes that come with the unit already does some adjusting on the shift pressure settings as part of the tune so I'm satisfied now.
SCT tech support sucks!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I have an SCT X4 and that sucks that you weren't informed of that ahead of time. Lots of tuners can use the SCT to upload a custom tune which can take care of most, if not all of your tuning needs. Although everyone on here will tell you you're wasting your time and money by getting one as a pose to getting a dyno tune so, be forewarned about that.

The DoD deffinetly will not disable so called west coast performance .com where I purchased the SCT X4 from and they said that I could return it for a refund. Good people there. I'll just keep using the Range module until I find a local tuner in my area to turn the AFM off. I agree that it seems to be a waste of money for what little it does to the car with canned tunes. I downloaded the canned tune for 91 octane and I couldn't turn off the AFM, and I couldn't tell any difference in performance at all. 91 octane is the only thing available in my area so had to go with that tune. I found a local reputable tuner that will turn off the AFM for $150 and will do a dyno tune when ready for additional $350. That's the route I'm going to take.

You could always send your ecm in to a tuner, then you wouldn't need the device either, and cheaper than dyno.

It's not a waste at all. Unless you're going full on crazy mods, major cam, heads, supercharger, turbo... you can get a tune through email. You can do headers, off road pipes, cold air, and a mild cam and it will work great. Talk to DynoSteve on here and ask him to do one for you.

I used Jannetty racing for my tune. I told them what i had and they emailed me the tune. I downloaded it into my sct-x4 tuner and then to the car.

I went through dynosteve as well. Changed my shift points to my spec and completely removed dod for me too, amongst other things. Emailed him my stock file and had my tune ready the next morning. Keep the unit and go this route. Always good to keep it fit future upgrades.

Me too. I combined it with Vmax TB and CAI. The car runs perfectly and Im not planning to modify it more than this.

JR tune makes a difference

Thank you for the recommendation gentlemen.

I have been tuning engines for over 35 years and have had my Custom Remote tuning program in place since late 2009 with over 3500 Gen 5 camaro tunes to date.

No matter your combination if you can log and have a wide band gauge I can tune that combination perfectly.

Many of the cars on the fast list are remote tuned by JRE.

Recently one of our remote tune customers went 202.1 at the Texas Mile.

I have a noob question.. Sorry everyone.

With handheld tuners, when you tune your car to "91 octane" tune, do you have to use 91 gasoline?? I'm just confused by that. Didn't know if it was just a title of a tune or what have you. Please don't make fun lol

Yes, you would need to run 91 or better octane for the tune to be at peak efficiency. Take into account the most PLENTIFUL tier 1 level gasoline in your area. For example, if you buy ALL your gas for your car at one station and it's 91 octane or if most of the top level gas stations in the area carry 91, then by all means, go for the 91 tune. You don't want your car pinging and pulling timing by using a lesser octane rating than recommended, or what you're tuned for. Kind of defeats the purpose.

Octane ratings are averaged, so even though they're blended with precision tolerances, I can tell you for a fact that there are slight variations in the blends.

Ted Jannetty or Dyno Steve could get into the weeds a lot more about this, but in general tune for what octane levels you would use the most.
