Dropping off car at GPI on Monday!

Well, I am finally dropping the car off at GPI on Monday. Getting cam, heads, gears and much more done. They will have the car for 3-4 weeks. I will have to take some photos at drop off and pick up but once I get it back I am hoping to crack easy 11s with no lope whatsoever as now I have already pulled a 12.3. We will see, it will be interesting to see what we can do with a truly baby duration cam with plenty of lift. Here is the link to the build thread.

On a side note I bought some of these puppies as I wanted a cheaper flow formed wheel that was still a 20 but lighter than our boat anchor factory wheels. Won't put them on the car until it comes back from GPI. Got my dogs blanket in there. Dog runs the house not wife.lol

Nope, baby cam. Much much smaller cam I will be running. Hoping for 430rwhp on the low end and 460rwhp on the high end. This is a very mild but miles ahead of a factory cam. Basically the cam alone should pull 40-50rwhp more than factory L99. Max package is just what it says MAX effort. This will be tame in comparison. Might not even be able to tell it's cammed which is fine by me.

I don't mean to burst your bubble, but you do know that the 400 factory hp rating is crank hp and not wheel hp, right? Factory wheel hp is closer to 320-330 rwhp range. If you don't have supporting mods (headers, aftermarket intake, etc.), you won't crack 400rwhp.

Already at roughly 370rwhp. I have all that stuff already. Headers, cai, tune, full rear Suspension as well as 3200 stall and drag radials. Car already ran a 12.3. 11s won't be hard with the mods I am doing. I figure if I can keep cutting a 1.7 60 or better 11.4-11.8 is where I will likely be but either way car isn't going for max effort. I know lots of guys run low 11s and even into 10s with big cams but that isn't what I am going for.If I want more later nitrous or supercharger will be added.

Well dropped the car off. They have sooooo many ls cars there.lol
Anyways, it's going to be a hard 4 weeks waiting to pick the car back up.lol
It isn't going to be a crazy motor but if they can get a full weight ss1 vvt to run 11.2 then I am pretty sure these heads and cam with 3.73s will get me in the high 11s.
Probably going to need a blower next year.lol
Will update when I get some dyno numbers.
I am going to guess conservative and say 425rwhp. Any takers on a number?

I'm still finding it hard to believe your car ran 12.3 with min upgrades and stock gears. I never ran my car on an official clock in that state so what do I know?

Well I am also in Houston and we are pretty much at sea level. Car ran a 13.1 and 13.0 stock at the track. so I don't know why you wouldn't think all those mods wouldn't drop you .6-.8 tenths?
Go look at the fast lists and you will see that is right inline with my mods and what others have gotten. If I remember correctly my factory mph was like 108 or 109.

Car ran 12.6 with just headers, tune and cai. Got it down to 12.3 with the addition of suspension stall drag radials and that was with only 2 passes. That was another .3 tenths.
Stock LT1 ss autos run 11.9 at HRP all day long.

Back when we did my LT's, CAI, VMAX ported TB, and a custom dyno tune, stock converter and gears she ran 12.63 on brand new street tires and no wheel spin.

Sounds about right jewld. I would have to find the slip when I get back home but I think 12.64 is what I got with my bolt ons before stall, tires and suspension. Stall is an amazing difference out of the hole once you have sticky tires but I can tell it needs more up top, hence cam and heads.
Drag strip is different than street pulls. My buddy has a cammed ls3 6 speed and he can't pull but a 12.4. His 60ft is like a 2.1 on street tires and he is pulling like 450rwhp with a 220s duration cam. Stick cars are way harder to run in the 1/4 mile consistently. On the street is a totally different story. If we both floor it at 40 he just walks away.

I kinda wish that I went with the gunmetal color instead of the satin black. I love those wheels though...
