Reverse lights not working
So I don’t drive my car much. I have car cover on it. I decided to take it out and my kids throw basket balls baseballs around and it but a few dents in. So decided I’d bring it to paintless dent repair.
Reverse lights worked when I unlocked car cause they blinked through car cover. I bring it in. Next day I pick it up I notice they’re not working and my gf follows me back home. It’s dark and tells me lights aren’t working. So I try and figure out what happened? I removed passenger tail light cover and find that the purple wiring connection it’s not connected. I plug it back and tail lights side markers in rear come on. Still no reverse. I searched and I think light green wires are reverse. Can I check for continuity in the plug? I’m away from car as time to go back to work in another state. But is there multimeter things to check before I have to remove the facia to figure out if bulbs went out? To me the bulbs should be fine...

The Camaro has to be running and in reverse before they come on. So you can back up to a window or have someone in the car to hold in the clutch to check them.
I discovered that when tapping in for a backup camera. It is the light green wire.

No. When you hit lock/unlock, they come on then off. I’ll have to verify this but I could swear they do as when I hit the fob they did come on then off. Mine aren’t doing that anymore.

Maybe if it is dark enough. I just see the signals blink. I know they won't come on if in reverse and I just turn the key on. Silly idea, makes it impossible to check/repair by oneself.

I agree. Im just hoping I can narrow it down by checking continuity in the wiring before I have to take the rear facia off. I'll check the wiring connectors above the tail lamps to see, then the reverse switch at the transmission which I already know should still be good but I'll check for good measure. Hoping it's not a facia removal. lol

I know this is a pretty old thread, but I've managed to come across the same issue. I just picked up a 2015 SS and have come to realize that my reverse lights are not activating either. I don't believe that it is the switch thats the problem, because when placed in reveres, I do hear the slight beep and the "R" does appear in the gauges. I picked up some new light bulbs to see if that would be the issue as well as some new fuses, just in case. I will have some time to put in some work tomorrow, and hopefully just the bulbs or fuses will resolve the issue.
Should these simple fixes not be the issue, would anyone be able to tell me where to find the "reverse switch"? |

fyi... There’s no separate reverse light fuse. Each side is powered by a the same harness that powers each side tail&brakes lights, see below vid. Wouldn’t think bulbs would burn out at same time if ever, so more than likely switch or harness connection problem Post a follow up once you tackle the problem.
Good luck. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-ogXZ7D16xw |

If you have the bulb out message in your dash, you may need to re-seat the plugs in the bulb housing. I have had the message for taillights and headlights, and both times by unplugging the connectors, then plugging them back in the sockets the message and the problems went away.

2018 SS 6 speed reverse lights do not come on
2018 SS 6 speed reverse lights do not come on or flash when unlocking with remote. Upon engaging reverse, the beep happens and the mirrors move to the reverse setting. Moving the shifter out of reverse sends the mirrors back to normal. Very puzzling. Removed the bulbs and they test good.
Any ideas? Thanks. |

Burned out bulb: The most common reason why a reverse light stops working is a burnt-out bulb. Check the bulb and replace it if necessary.
