Recommendations for intake??

Hey Guys!

Im gonna start adding bolt ons to my 2011 camaro v6 and i want to start with a cold air intake. Im new to intakes or bolt ons for that matter. Do yall have any recomendations for one? Ive been reading into CAI, Rotofab, Vararam. Which one will give you the most gains in hp? Vararam claims 25 to 30hp. Is that true? Which is best? Apreciate any help!

Vararam is pretty nice. Sounds pretty mean to. Gives it a pretty good growl.

I have an Airaid.....I've been please with it, however if I were to buy one today I would get either the Vararam for the additional performance gains, or the CAI just because it looks really great under the hood. I don't know that Vararam's HP claims are justified, however you will definitely be able to feel the difference over the stock intake.

Injen has been around for decades and has been a leader in intake manufacturing and design for a long while. Roto-fab also has a really nice option as well, here's what both of those look like:

All the above are good options. I love my CAI inc. I prefer the look of it personally & like that it does not seal against the hood pad leaving a mark there. It has a see through top allowing you to check on how the filter looks, easy open top & insulated box & ceramic coated tubs for keeping the engine bay heat out. You can also add a scoop to pull air in better & a water bottle relocation kit to give more room for air & both bump HP a little bit more. It comes in different finishes. I'll post a pic of mine. Someone will probably post up the link to the spread sheet with independent test results of HP differences with various brands. (I'm at work or I'd look for it). Good luck deciding.

I have a Volant and I like it a lot. It's one of the few options out there that are CA legal. So I had my hands tied a little... However, I love it and it adds a little extra noise, which is always appreciated.

I dunno if vararams claims are accurate but I can tell you it does make a big difference. I had k&n before and switched to vararam and never looked back. Pulls harder, especially on freeway and my IAT's are always lower then compared to when I had my k&n.

Injen is a great performer on the V6, but you also have the risk of water ingestion with the long tube design. I prefer Airaid, CAI or Roto-Fab myself. All will free up 14-17 RWHP so pick one that you like the looks of and fits your budget and run with it.

Feel free to call, PM or email me anytime with questions.

Best regards,

I didn't think the Volant was CA legal. Did it come with a CARB sticker?
