Is this a user interface or via tune?
It seems like you believe that Start/Stop is somehow more advanced than e-Assist. The opposite is true. Start/stop is simply that. It shuts the engine off when you stop, restarts it when you’re ready to move. If there is not enough charge in the battery to maintain auxiliary usage, it simply doesn’t turn off when you stop. With e-Assist, the A/C has an electrically driven compressor that can continue to run on auxiliary power when the engine is not turning. Start/stop doesn’t have that.

My 2016 Cruze has Start/stop. It does not turn off at every stop. Certain conditions are built into the system logic. For example...it doesn’t turn the engine off if outside temperature is below 42 degrees. So during the winter it never shuts the engine off. Then, when the weather does permit, it will only allow the engine to be off for about one minute....maybe a little more, depending on state of charge of the battery. If there are a lot of frequent stops, there will be times where it doesn’t turn off at a stop simply because the amount of charge is not sufficient. e-Assist is a lot more robust, and can start the “turn off” process as the car is slowing down, not just when it comes to a complete stop.

Our new 2018 Terrain has start stop. Martin is correct in that it is "smart" enough to work only under certain conditions and if certain validations are passed. The end result is that most of the time, start stop will happen each time you stop. Now, the Terrain has no simple way of defeating it, but it can be done. My wife has already learned that when you stop, if you come to a stop slowly with light brake pedal, or when nearly stopped, let off the pedal slightly, but enough to hold the vehicle and start/stop will never engage.

I've also read that if you just use the manual mode and put the Terrain into the highest gear that start/stop will never engage b/c while in manual mode it is turned off.

As for the eAssist. I like it, but I wish GM had upped their game a bit with more available electric TQ like RAM has done. An extra 90TQ on the V6 and 130TQ on the V8 sounds pretty nice to me. With the GM "twins" its around 45TQ I believe.

My brother has a 2017 Sierra Elevation. He got a smokin deal last Black Friday. It's a very nice truck. I was thinking of getting one for a DD.

That elevation edition looks pretty nice. I'd have to swap out the black wheels though...perhaps for some sort of gloss gunmetal grey or something like that. Just can't do the full on black.

So is this more or less a sporty appearance package?

Yeah, it actually exists on the current Sierra too. Seems to be a pretty popular package in this area.

I agree on the wheels.

I agree on the wheels.
Can get them well under 30K at Laura's as well.

So you'll be getting a completely loaded Denali with every trim option and package available, plus one or two sets of optional wheels, plus every accessory available and pay MSRP for everything?

Congrats on your purchase.

LOL. Like I said above, an Elevation edition can be had for 30K or so today (V6).
