NPP exhaust quiet down

Hey guys/gals,

I would like to temporarily close the valves in the NPP exhaust system this weekend. I'm running an HPDE and I'll be at a track with lower than usual sound decibel restriction. It's too late for me to order a mild to wild switch (I'll get one next week) and I'm afraid I'll get blacked flagged for the weekend. I currently have ARH long tubes w/high flow cats so it gets pretty loud at WOT.

Would disconnecting the vacuum lines to the mufflers close the valves and keep them closed?

I'm heading to circuit Mount Tremblant in Canada. Max is 92db on A scale 15 meters from track edge.

Watkins Glen which I do often has no sound restriction.

Any help is appreciated.

Cheers,
Abdi

Answer: NO. That keeps them open all the time.

IF you have NPP and it wasnt part of the car from the factory a M2W switch does nothing for you as you dont have the required pieces for it.

I made my own switch using a few parts. Not cost effective imho.

Thank you.

Sorry, the NPP option was from the factory. I might have try to make my own M2W switch tomorrow morning if I can find the parts.

if you want the ability to close the mufflers, you'll want the Forza Model E2 Controller. That's what i have, it's a very good product. Forza is also a sponsor here.

I did the same thing as larry, works great and I think I spend $10-$15 dollars for the switch and wire needed.

Temperately mechanically wire the valves in the closed position.

Since it was from factory the M2W will work. Those that added NPP 2nd hand, can not.

I just finished wiring in a 3 position switch this morning. I definitely recommend it. The longest part of the job is running the wires up front. Works great. I did it because I leave at 4:45am for work and after my header install the noise is too much for my neighbors lol.

The mild to wild controller keeps the muffler open all the time and not closed all the time like you are looking to do

You will need the Forza 3 way controller or hard wire a switch.

Just for reference sake....... stock headers, solo high flow cats and NPP (open/WOT) is around 97-98db. My car measured 97.4db at an autocross event where the DB limit is 101.

10min fix for my NPP exh on my non NPP car... removed the vacuum valves and bought bolts that thread into the joint that pivots the valve. Washers and nuts on the other end

Everyone,

Thank you for all the inputs! Looks like I have a couple of different options. I'll let everyone know what I did and how my weekend turned out on Wednesday. I have the wife and kids with me and we are spending a couple of extra days checking the lake, mountain and local attractions.
