The only reason LT's sound better is because by default they either remove the factory cats or replace them with H/F ones. Which in the OPs case doesn't answer his question about the resonators, and most likely doesn't help since he's in cali also. That being said he stated he has a catback system. So this means his stock resonators are gone and was probably replaced with the magnaflow resonated x-pipe that comes with pretty much all the magnaflow systems for the SS. You can remove this resonated xpipe and replace it with a regular xpipe but you will probably get a more louder raspy sound under load at WOT. Some people like that some dont.

I am going to take your advise and delete the resonators. Will let you know if it is as good as you experienced I also have a Axel back Flow master.

Wait, doesn't a "cat-back" system automatically delete the resonators?
I have a new, complete "cat - back" bolt-on Magnaflow stainless steel exhaust system (part number 16483) for a 2010 - 2014 Camaro, still in it's factory box and bubble wrapping.
It's a 3" system, so it should be pretty loud.
This is a $1,500.00 system that should make your car sound much better! It has polished round tail pipes.
I'm only asking $899.00
If you're interested, give me a call.
Thanks, Brad 760-298-4027

Will a resonator delete make my 2014 Camaro SS louder?

I just added a Borla ATAK axel back and the area is loud when I rev it but when I drive it , it's way to quite so I was wondering if a resornater delete would make a big difference

I had originally only added MagnaFlow mufflers...was very disappointed with the lack of sound. Then added a K&N intake...it helped but I was still disappointed. Just had the resonator removed yesterday. Now she sounds like a true muscle car! Was inexpensive and helped immensely. Spent about 450$ for the mufflers, and the removal of the resonator. And their is NO annoying drone from the AFM as I have the automatic L99. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants their SS to sound like its supposed to!
Any problems with warranty if i do this? Bought a 6 year extended bumper to bumper.

If your cat back has the mufflers on it, I would take those out and leave the Magnflow resonator. The resonator kills drone and keeps the cabin noise at a good level. You'll get more volume outside of the car this way.

Of course, it is truly amazing how much sound the stock cats absorb. If you want really loud, then I agree with others, long tubes and either high flow cats or none at all, whichever you can get away with.

This is quite different than my Avalanche once the pipes go past the cats whiich I assume is this 1st pic.

Now we come across 2 strange devices that look like oil pans but I assume are x pipe/ mufflers of some sort:

And with 2 large mufflers on the back I see why is so quiet. Or are they resonators?

So is it best to replace those with louder ones or just straight pipe it?

Someone will answer soon I'm sure, but I heard some engines loose power straight piped. Also heard some state laws require a x-pipe or cross pipe.

I deleted my resonator with straight pipes and immediately felt power loss and a lag when on throttle and was crazy loud. I went back the next day and had them put in a Magnaflow Truflow x pipe and that solved the problem.

Velocity is an important factor. This is what people are really talking about when they mention 'backpressure'. An exhaust system should be right for the engine. If you put too large of a pipe, say a 4" pipe on a stock engine, the pulses from the cylinders will break up and slow down. It is the scavenging, or vacuum from the previous pulse that helps to pull the next pulse out of the cylinder and down the line.

I've never heard of a crossover pipe being mandated, but it is pretty much a standard to have one, of one sort or another on dual exhaust. A crossover helps the scavenging process by equalizing the pressure/velocity coming from both banks to keep the pulses flowing smoothly. The x-pipe may do this more effectively, however, one of the biggest secondary benefits is noise cancellation of the more unpleasant tones.
