Play nice...2011 stang vs 2010 ss

Lets see if we can actually discuss this without having it go off course and be closed. We Have most of the numbers now...

SS
426 HP
420 TQ
3849 Curb
http://www.leftlanenews.com/chevrolet-camaro-ss.html

GT
412 HP
390 TQ
3603 Curb
http://media.ford.com/images/10031/2...g_GT_Specs.pdf

I know we all have our own opinions of what is better and whatnot but lets go by the numbers here. What are your thoughts? With more HP will the SS be able to overcome the 246lbs or will the lighter, less powerful GT be able to overcome the HP and edge ahead. Please no people bashing lets keep this thread open this time

It'll be close. My guess is the 5.0 will come in a shade quicker in the 0-60 times than the SS due to lighter weight. Apparently, this new 5.0 engine only adds 10 pounds to the curb weight of the GT. Similiarly, I think the quarter mile times will be close as well, with the 'stang slightly edging out the Camaro by a couple of tenths of a second. The added HP and displacement should help the GT match the Camaro's trap speeds in the quarter mile.

But head to head, its a driver's race.

It should be close.
I would rather see dyno numbers, rather than factory specs. Some cars are underrated.
Gearing and traction will be key in this battle.

390 ft-lbs + 3600lbs > 420ft-lbs + 3900lbs

OK sorry, just adding peoples thought who were in the know... figured it would add to the conversation at hand.

I'll never own a Ford. I don't like the FAILSAFE mode.

Hmm....

Well....

If those numbers are correct as far as power to weight the Mustang has an advantage, It's REALLY small, IE - don't fill up the Camaro's tank all the way and there even small, but unlike other comparo's the difference is there enough to be a factor.

That said it's Almost a complete drivers race (Depends alot on gearing / tires for the mustang) with a very small power to weight in favor of the mustang.

Really doesn't matter that much to me, I love my camaro and really I'm happy for mustang owners who I think do to lack of competition have had to resort to aftermarket means to get the performance they were looking for until that car comes out.

Good times!

Might as well add a full tank of gas to all the comparisons bro

let me guess taking the spare tire out is not considered stock? because the camaro doesn't have a spare tire should we take it out of the mustang?
