yeah thats its but in order to activate them you need to go to the dealer and I am sure thats a couple hundred bucks, plus you need to shave around the door inserts for the abl, after all the hard work i did in painting mine, I will just be doing the abl on the dash and wire into the lights.

I'll enquire at the dealer when they get back to me about the steering wheel controls and PDIM I want to install. Since they have to go into my cars profile to click c and c package it may just be another check box in the bcm to tick. No harm in asking.

I'd most likely just but RPI's painted abl panels if I decide to go with ABL.

However I did go the dismantle route to save. I don't know yet.

Does anyone know if its possible to remove the cloth from the stock panel and simply do a sand and paint job to them? could save a ton of money this way...

You need to get the ABL door panels, but yes it's possible.

Ok thanks. I am going to get the door panels off a 2ss with the ABL but I wanted to make it was possible before I buy it. Do I need to buy anything or it should have the harness i need from the 2ss? Btw the door panels are coming from a scrap yard camaro so I can get what ever i need to get correct installation.

If you get the able panels with the abl led and light tubes from salvage (like I did) you have a few options. I've listed two below.

You need a harness that you can get from Gen5DIY or you need to have your bcm reprogrammed by a dealer to reflect ABL.

Your car should have the inactive harness I posted a few replies ago a dealer can activate it for a fee (reprogram bcm)

Or you can get a harness that I believe pigtails off of the lights in the door switches to provide the light for abl (gen5diy harness)

So i have a question about this. If I remove the current panel from my door by cutting away the melted pieces, is the panel still being held on by screws? In other words, if i take it off, can i put it back on by using the old screws if there were any already in the panel without drilling?

There's only a few screws that hold it in place, they won't be enough. I put screws in all the holes that were leftover from the rivets, and it rattles slightly so u might want to put a small layer of epoxy on it as well. Also I think the recommended screws are #8-32 x 3/8. I found that this is too long for 2-3 screws so u might want to go 1/4 for the short rivet holes.

Really dresses up the interior. Heres a picture of it after installing.
looks good sir , wish you were closer , lol

Old post, but I can't get the 14 pieces off from behind the trim. What to do? I didn't try to grind them or anything yet. Just not sure.
