Found a good deal on a ZL1 on the coast of Texas. Is rust possible??

Hi guys,

I have been looking for a 2013 ZL1 with low miles and I found a good deal on one, the only thing is it is located on the coast of Texas.

Here is where it is located

Should I avoid this one since it lived on the coast and there could be rust?
It only has 6k miles and according to the seller was always garaged.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

I would be more worried about flood damage from Hurricane Harvey. There have been quite a few different model cars hitting EBay that were flooded and the listing does not disclose that. If the car didn’t have full coverage or flood insurance and a claim wasn’t payed Carfax wouldn’t have a record on their site.

I say buyer beware and do your research. If you look at the location of that address that area was definitely under water during the hurricane.

I contacted the seller so we will see what they send back. If/when they send them I will post them up here.

Yeah that was another thought that crossed my mind. This car has been for sale for a while and I am guessing there is a reason why.

It is probably one of those too good to be true things but I figured I wouldn't know if I didn't at least look into it a little!

What's the price?

Looks like their zip code is either 77619 or 77651

Neither pull up on this list

Well, turns out that one already sold so the hunt continues!

Thanks for the replies everyone!

They were asking 34k, black 2013 with 6k miles, sunroof, exposed carbon fiber, and suede/alcantara package.

If its exposed to excessive moisture or water then rust is always a possibility, especially underneath the chassis. If the car was driven daily during wet weather then expect to see some signs of underbody corrosion. You should not be seeing body panel rust; This would indicate an inordinate amount of moisture, salt, and very poor maintenance.
