I think if I remember right (correct me if wrong) the SS issue was the brake pads. That if you are to switch to Ceramic it goes away. But it still should be something that GM should pay for not people with the OEM pads.

Mine only squeal the first time I stop, after that I have not noticed any other squeal. Luckely I live on the corner of my subdivision and have to stop at a stop sign to get out. The car squels to the stop sign and after that I am good. I have had this with many other vehicles so Its no big deal to me.

have 34k drive pretty hard now no sqeaking. i know it varies but how long should these pads last before replacing. And to the people with sqeaking brakes is it a car defect or pad defect and what pads are you going to use when you replace them oem or others?

Everyone who stated they had brake squeal above has been added!

There are multiple TSBs on the SS, including replacing the brake pads (which almost is never a good fix) to switching the calipers to a rolling version. However, most owners report that brake squeal was still an issue. Furthermore, there are many accounts of SS owners changing to Ceramic, only to have squeal come back again after a few thousand miles.

Yet you have squeal. And we need to let Chevy know when there is a widespread issue with the Camaro, or we are not going to have anything done to help us.

I get some but usually only in the early morning with dew on the car, or after washing it. If it's making noise at any other times it isn't enough for me to hear it.

Mine does it as well - and also started doing it around the 26,000 mile mark (kinda weird).

Sign, not all the time, usually only in the morning when she hasn't been driven.
