Hey CamaroKid ...You did a great job of explaining the handicap points .
Handicap bowling like you said is to make it fair for everyone but sometimes its just amazing to see spoting the other team with us it is on avg.120-150 pins . We have one team we spoted 178 !

Yeah, it's pretty bad.

This summer my Thursday night league team had a team handicap of 8 pins.

90% of 210

We bowled a team with over 300 pins handicap.

Ouch.

No one bowl this week ?? I'll be back at it tonight . Next week we have to bowl 6 games because we as a team didn't bowl last week:. We had 2 members on vacation and instead of trying to get subs we will just make it up after our reg. League ends .
I'll post up later tonight.

I'm not currently in a league, but I used to do it for several years...

I'm generally a 180-190 average bowler, with a personal best of 245.

I'm a right handed bowler and I almost never use my thumb. I'm in the process of trying to replace my normal throwing ball as it was dropped during moving and it has a nice crack in it.

We used to play around bowling with no thumb. Could break of 8 and 9 in a row at times but never could be consistant. It was unheard of back then to actualy bowl league like that but some of our high average bowlers now are no thumb bowlers.

We have a few in our league as well . the revs they put on the ball is unreal !

Well speaking of unreal .. My bowling tonight kinda pissed me off but it was my own fault . I shot 257 - 225- 165 = 647 after the 2nd game the ball hung up in the back of the machine and came back with marks on it so i cleaned it with some ebonite power house cleaner . after that the ball just wouldn't track right . switched balls but not the same . blew a good chance at a 700 . we still won all 7 points so it's all good .

My team-mate is a no thumb bowler. he can pick up the ten pins just fine too.

I hate having to switch balls in the middle of a set.

That does suck. Especially with how you were scoring. I use rubbing alcohol to clean my equipment. Works good to remove the oil buildup.

just stumbled upon this thread...

I averaged 231 last year and am struggling a bit this year at 224. I haven't been below 600 in league in 2 years, but cut it close at 603 on Monday.

I have 17 300s, 13 800s (843 high), at least 21 tournament victories with another 9 seconds (including 2nd in WI Scratch All-events and a 2nd in Scratch Doubles).

I've been mostly throwing Storm lately. I drilled up a Victory Road for Nationals last year and it helped us finish 19th in team. The Anarchy and Virtual Energy are up there on my list, as well as my Brunswick Fury. I love throwing the my old equipment in league for fun...threw my 1999 Nail tonight.

A couple of comments on the handicap systems...100% of 200 is an extremely big advantage for bowlers with high averages. The higher the handicap limit, the less of an advantage for higher average bowlers. The thing that shouldn't happen is a bowler throwing a 300 and getting beat with handicap. I've had it happen to me, its not right. The max game you should ever get is a 300, including handicap.

Oh sure strip my Mr. PBA away from me now. .......

Then again I don't have my 300 yet either. Need to get back to a serious mens league once the kids graduate High School.
