Chevrolet Customer Service

Taking my car in tomorrow for service. When called them, they (David Maus Cheverolet in Sanford Florida) said they have already done a few of these already.

When I asked if they knew why, the service rep said that apparently it's a result of the dash heating up from prolonged sunlight and then rapid cooling by the AC when the car is operated. So...as far as they are away it's a heat and rapid cooling issue, one of which Chevy didn't plan for?

Nevertheless, they said they would replace it...as they have done for others. I just hope this isn't something that becomes an ongoing issue.

i still dont think that it is caused by rapid heating and cooling. my car is garage kept and i havent used the ac yet while driving it.

Maybe y'all should try getting it done with an extreme adhesive like 3000psi silicon or something. Its not like it needs to come off later down the road. That's what I did for the suede on my Gto door and it was never a problem again

Mine took less then a week to come back after being replaced.

I might mention this to my dealer when they address the issue.

I'm not sure the problem is the insert not sticking to the dash though. Assuming this 'part' is a complete piece, and only the top of it is vinyl, then my guess is the top layer is separating from the backing material. If that's the case, only a re-tooling at the factory to use a stronger bonding agent would solve the problem.

But that's just me guessing.

Sounds coming from above the dash bubbles...

Who (To whom) do I complain to about the lousy music on XM?

I didn't even notice until I saw this thread and looked to see if mine had that problem! I have a bubble right in the middle. Doesn't bother me too much but California heat is a pain!

Let us know how long the second replacement lasts. I think I'll wait and see how bad mine gets before I go in for another swap.

That's the station I listen to most and it appears just below my bubble as well. Ferrying fixed at dealer in two weeks along with misalignment of my dealer installed "blade" spoiler. My dealer said they had not heard of it and there were no bulletins out on it however they were happy to order the part and setup an appointment for repair. Looks like a gas bubble from the adhesive curing IMO. I don't think its from heating up and cooling down rapidly. Its been rainy and cool in the Portland area and I hate cold air blowing on me so no A/C usage here.

Well, I dropped the car off today for round two of this battle against the bubbles. Guess we will see how long this one lasts.
