*Dyno & Vid* 2013 ZL1 - VMax CNC TB Results, Stock TB vs. CNC LSA vs. CNC LS3
2013 ZL1
9400 miles Manual Transmission Only mods are RotoFab CAI. NO tuning, stock tune. Runs are all done consecutively, no cool down period besides 5 minutes or so to swap the TB's. The stock TB was tested first, although it shows Run #3 that is just how I pulled the dyno results up. Run 1 = VMax CNC LS3 TB Run 2 = VMax CNC LSA TB Run 3 = Stock TB 21rwhp/12rwtq gain over stock TB Last edited by Matt @ FSP; 07-30-2013 at 06:26 PM. |

I swapped out the stock TB for a Vmax CNC ported one a couple weeks ago. I thought it was the best bang for the buck mod so far. Your numbers confirm what I thought.
Surprised the LS3 TB didn't give the highest numbers. I assume the stock tune was the limiting factor? Anyone looking for a little more oomph at the low end and significantly better throttle response might want to consider doing a ported TB swap. It's a cheap and easy mod that provides a nice little performance boost.

It's a 2013 Matt!
Still, NICE results!! Now I can't wait to see what happens with the rest of the build! Although I'm still not a fan of your tight Mustang Dyno and it's stingy numbers!

Yes the LSA did better than the LS3.. For now..
Once we add the 10% OD pulley on bottom, the 2.50 upper pulley, pfadt headers, and the Alky Control FSP ZL1 methanol kit we will be re-testing both throttle bodies.. I think the LS3 may do better when we have more demand for intake airflow. We'll see. |

Do the LSA and LS3 throttle body blades open up in the same direction?
And in which orientation was the LS3 tb mounted in this test? |

LS3 TB has to go with the throttle controls on the "opposite" side from the LSA controls.. VMax took some great pictures of the installations so we'll have to get some pictures from them posted up. I'll grab pics of the LS3 TB installed tomorrow when I am at shop before we tear this down! |

Thanks Matt!
With it mounted in that orientation does that make the blade open in the opposite direction as the LSA tb and does it affect power? |
