The famous chevy vs ford what do you think??
So I am getting my carmaro custom dyno tuned tomorrow for my maggie with the stok pulley. I have long tube headers, high flow cats and exhaust 3.91 gears, 20" DR, CAI, and a M6 car My best friend is getting his mustang tuned via data log system of some sort tomorrow as well he is running 15 MT Dr, 100 shot plate system, 4.10 gears, manual, boss intake, stock manifolds and exhaust. What does everyone think will be the outcome of a 1/4. Before the power adders we raced through third and it was a half a car to the mustang then a missed gear.

In the 1/4 im still going to give the edge to the Mustang. If I am reading your post correctly, you said you were raced before and he was ahead of you by a half car before you missed a gear?
He has everything in his advantage IMO for a 1/4 race. His car is lighter, and those mods are really effective ones for Mustangs. But perhaps the biggest advantage is he is running MT drag radials on a 15" wheel while you are running drag radials on a 20" wheel. His car basically is a proper drag setup, if he can drive I think hes gonna take you. |

I think he will win as well and yes half a car before I missed third, or hit rev limmiter I cant remember which one it was either way needed the driver mod that day. The weight is a killer and the big wheels def dont help

How would the Mustang still win against his Camaro with the Maggie on it? I'm confused. I think the SS has a better chance here. OP, how much power are you looking to be putting down?

Maggie with a stock pully is a ok bump in power. Makes for a very fun Streetcar but no race car. With only 5-5.5 boost and over 100lbs in parts. But pully down just a bit and get to 8-10 psi boost and your friend will be buying the next round after you get done racing.
A pully and a belt is very cheap. |

BC the Mustang would now be running 4.10 gears, Boss Intake, on 15" MT drag radials, and a 100 shot of nitrous...IMO all those things in a lighter car give the mustang the advantage over the supercharged Camaro in the 1/4

Mustang should run 10.90's with that setup, there are a few around here setup that way that do, I don't think a SS with just a maggie will run in the 10's, at least I haven't seen it, with a cam/maggie also, yes they can get into the 10's.

So I went and got my car tuned for the maggie and made 540 rwhp, same day same time same dyno my friend with the 5.0 dynoed at 510 with the 100 shot. I dont know that 30hp will be enough to make up for the weight but time will tell

This should be really close imo. You have +30hp on him and the advantage of a blower and that power being on the whole time vs the spray. But he is lighter and even more so in important places like his 15" wheels plus he has 4.10's to your 3.91's. I think it will be a drivers/ traction race.

Should be hell of a race, equal driver skill I give slight edge to Mustang still due to lighter, better gearing and 15" wheels.

He should of put a slightly smaller pulley on that set up since he was using LT headers and custom dyno tune. I don't think 30rwhp is enough to overcome the weight difference and a 15" rear tire. Remember that a Maggie will add 100lbs and our cars can only use 18" rear DR's unless crazy expensive wheels, suspension and brake mods are used.
