Onstar and Verizon Wireless

Part of the day I guess 2 hours spent trying to find out if I can transfer my old 2008 GM truck to my Camaro. According to Onstar, they cannot do any transfering old phone numbers from one vehicle to another as of July 12,
2009. I am correct about that? That Onstar doesn't transfer old vehicle phone numbers any more? My idea, after thinking about it, I don't need the old vehicle phone, because of my cell phone paired up with bluetooth system on the Camaro. Has that replaced having a cell phone built into a vehicle?

I never use my onstar phone. I am always using the bluetooth. I like it a lot!

NO! The Verison 'pre-paid' cell phone is still in your Camaro and available to add minutes to... with the convenience of the Bluetooth, I havn't heard of many people adding more than the 30 trial minutes but it IS a good back up if you were to leave your phone at home or work.... And, I don't think that OnStar transfers numbers anymore but I will ask my OnStar rep. to verify that and let you know!!!

That would be incorrect, I transferred our Verizon number from our 2006 Yukon to our 2008 Malibu in a matter of minutes, using the Onstar advisor to connect me to the Verizon/Onstar rep. It did take overnight for them to finish it, but you still get the 30 or 60 minutes free Onstar phone service anyway.

Oops, I guess I didn't see the "as of..." phrase in there, maybe they did change it then.

My OnStar rep. just got back to me and said " No. The process is too tedious and onstar doesn’t do it." - hope it helps!!!
