Hard Core Nitrous Guys

Thinking of doing two stage nitrous setup on my 2010 Camaro. I already have NX plate system with 150 shot but wanted some ideas from guys who have big nitrous setups on there rides. For one what's best route to take on bottom end to handle 175hp x 2 stages. I know a lot of you guys have built big horsepower turbos and superchargers builds. But I want to go against the grain and be different.

I was thinking about nitrous express plate lsx system. It is upgradable to dual stage in the plate. Lately I've been researching turbos though. Priced up system and controller and a self made stand alone tank at under 2 grand for possible 400 hit.

Hp per dollar is why I like nitrous. I need to look into that lsx system. 400 hit would be awesome just need to get bottom end right

I would definitely run a forged short block with 400. 200 with standalone race gas would be good to go on stock shortblock.

Once you start getting into big hp shots is when it starts costing a lot of money. You need a high octane base fuel and high octane standalone fuel. E85 will be the cheapest fuel to do it with. Aside from that you need 100 plus base fuel and c16-23 for the standalone. Also nitrous motors like very little to no quench. And the tuning window becomes very small with large shots of spray. The 2 degrees for every 50 doesn't apply. Also plug choice and ga is critical. You will see gaps around 25 on big kit cars.

I have standalone fuel cell tuned to c16 now. So you saying I would need higher octane in my regular fuel tank also ? Man you crushing my dreams lol looks like larger the dose harder it is smh

You need a higher base fuel because by the time 93 mixes with your c16 in the cylinder you have maybe 105 or so which is nowhere near where you need to be with a big kit, let alone 2. But if e85 is in your area, that will handle the 3-400 kit no problem, the only issue is blend consistency which you can jet for.

On my previous Camaro racecar and street cars I ran lots of nitrous and my advice is do your homework. Talk to guys who use it, race it and understand what you'll need to make the system properly. Unfortunately my cars were all carbed so I'm not up to speed on on nitrous and fuel injection but I was running a 350hp fogger kit on a 2x4 tunnel ram SBC and I never had an issue and it was a lot of fun.

On that car I ran a complete stand alone fuel system with its own pump, lines and supply. That car was also 14:1 compression and went like a bat out of hell but you've got to get your tuning right. There use to be some great books on nitrous and I did a lot of reading and talking with guys in the know and in the end I had a trouble free system that didn't give me any engine issues so all I can say is get all your answers first and build the system right. Don't cut corners and you will end up with a whole pile of fun.

TTShovel I think I'm gone just do me a stroker build and stick to 200 shot. Trying to keep it as simple as I can didn't really know it got that complicated

That is the plan here as well. Having a good foundation built now. Run NA for a bit and take a step back and look at things.Probably just a light shot below 200. Yeah once you start getting into the big hits it starts getting way more complicated.Ran Nitrous on our Drag Car in early 80's. A lot of experimenting went on back then. lol Good Results and luckily never broke a motor. Can't say the same for the Transmissions.lol No experience with it whatsoever on these new cars. Things have come along way.
