I just completed a blend door replacement in my 2012. Did it myself and took my time. AC works again! Did the trick of cutting a panel - no removing the dashboard or windshield.
Im not a mechanic, but have the tools and suitable garage to work in. |

Damn straight!! This really should have been taking care of years ago. It's 2021 and we are still posted about this issue. Aluminum would be perfect.

Remember GM doesn’t care. If their cheap plastic crap lasts until the warranty runs out it’s your problem. Awesome that max A/C is unusable. lol

It seems there should be some kind of ‘you’re only on the hook for this amount’ sliding scale, post warranty. Based on part vs repair cost. But when the repair bill exceeds 5000% of the part cost, something is wrong and a concession is in order.
Who would pay $300,000 for a tranny R&R? Based on a $6K trans @ 5000%. But a $50.00 blend door (and I think I’m being generous) + 5000% = $2500 repair.

To be fair I got mine repaired for $200-ish because the shop cut the box, replaced the door, then plastic welded it. Obviously not a Chevy stealership.

Agreed. But then again ,I keep it 3 clicks back and never use the MAX. Just keep it on recycle, and it gets pretty damn cold lol . On My 93 Trans Am , the MAX setting was just the recycle setting anyway , so it all works the same so to speak. |

Nobody answered the question about the door cycling to find the stops with each key cycle.
