Yeap Shaver's did dyno work on the Ecotec, but it wasn't anything that found its way on to a production Cobalt. All that work was for the GMPP and the race car that Bothwells was campaining at the time. GM would not use some shops dyno to test there dyno either, nor would they have to worry about anyone calling BS on an in house dyno at ANY of the OEMs. There are standards that are strickly held to and administered by Sociaty of Automotive Engineers. I am calling BS on the outside shop in AZ doing dyno testing on a high profile prototype. BTW way people the ZR1 is putting 530 to the tires but the Z28 will not, it isn't getting the LS9 engine. The CTS-V is numbers closer to what we will see, I bet GM will give it a special tune over the CTS-V. |

I will believe when I start laying down the rubber, which will be right after I lay down the greenbacks. But I'm -OH- so ready to believe. .

489 RWHP is definitely a thrown out there #. It's actually not that impressive. The Callaway Camaros out now Dyno more than that. We dyno'd our first one at 515 RWHP. Plus these are out now with a factory warranty and going to be a lot more exclusive than a Z28.

Let's take a look at the numbers: Callaway SC Camaro SS = $35K (for SS) + $20K (Callaway mods) = $55K (for 515 rwHP, absolutely no body mods, no suspension mods, and bunch of Callaway badges that nobody cares about) Factory Camaro Z/28 = $45K-$50K (a guess, but anybody with any common sense will realize that GM is not going to sell this car for more than a GT500) (for 480 rwHP (again, a guess that I think is a bit high, for the record), body mods, most likely a vastly superior suspension setup, huge badass CTS-V 6-pot front brake calipers, and a bunch of Z/28 badges that people do care about) So: Callaway SS = Price per rwHP ratio = $106.80 per rwHP Camaro Z/28 = Price per rwHP ratio = $104.17 per rwHP In case you were wondering, the lower the number, the better, lol. And then comes the other reality. On any roadcourse, the Z/28's superior handling/braking abilities (speculation at this time, but using common sense again) of the Z/28 (even with a slight HP disadvantage) will allow it to run circles around a SC'ed SS any day of the week. Now it is true that Callaway does have options to upgrade the other components of the car (CF aero stuff, coilovers, big brake kit, etc.), but I am not sure that I would want to spend another $15K-$20K to get the rest of the car up to snuff. Long story, short, my money is on the Z/28. |

You can drive your car on the street, but can you use all its power on the street ... legally?

I use it legally. Get up to highway speed of 75mph easily... never problem merging haha
wwhen I was on street tires traction control would just kick in in higher RPMs but vortech is very streetable supercharger.. now with drag radials its fine ... as long as they tune to gradually build power & fit it wide tires be fine on the street for most. granted I would be worried about some less skilled drivers getting in such rwd cars Like some guy buying for his 16yr old son

I would say that I use about 1/4 of the throttle. Any more than that, or to aggressively, you're all done! Especially when the tires are cold or the roads, which in CT, is about 6 months out of the year. I'm still afraid to have it downshift to fast (especially on the highway) and fish tale. but with my setup it all comes in at 3500 so you do need to pay attention. |
