Actually if the 72 Chevelle is a tank, a 10 Camaro is a warship, 'cause the Chevelle weighs less.

I believe this is correct actually.

Like everyone else says, you can't just come on here and ask if a 40+ year old classic car would win, because most of them are modded. My Dad has a '72, and it's got a BB 502, and I've seen many with the same swap. Most '72s don't have the stock engines, and if they do, they are usually more than 300hp.

Yep. I don't think anyone wants to race a 100% original car from that era. I don't know of a car that hasn't had work done to it that is not a show car. I remember that the chevelle in 70 weighs 3400 (correct me if im wrong). I didn't check the block numbers on 72 put i thought that they had the same hp as late 66-70. My mistake.

Wrong, my 68 Chevelle weights 3570, the 6 cylinder Chevelle shipping weight was 3400 for the stripper and the is not a tank. The 5th Gen Camaro is a pig when it comes to weight, all new cars are pigs consider all the aluminum and plastic in them.

Hard to say who would win in a heads up drag race, in 1972 the SS Malibu can be a 350 car not necessarily a big block (402/454). That is if the Chevelle is stock (most likely not).

It's not the plastic and aluminum that makes them pigs. It is all the high strength steel and safety that is engineered into keeping the occupants safe during an accident. I have seen plenty of photos of Camaros after a wreck and THANK GOD the safety is built in like it is. Otherwise there would be less owners alive today after some of those wrecks.
