If they lift and blow the gaskets out, then I'll consider something else to top the motor with...

As for the block, the cylinders are absolutely uniform and consistent as they are machined inside and out prior to use and fitting...They are of a ductile iron IIRC, and unlike say an LSx, they are not in any fashion subject to core shift... The sleeves are just as storng as the LSx, and by design, more consistent...

I'm not slamming on the LSx in any form or fashion, just a different philosophy and building style...

The LS3 block is highly re-inforced in key areas as it's being built...

Some of the biggest names in racing use aluminum blocks with iron sleeves... So, long story short, I'm very comfortable with it... and at the same time it's just as subject to murphy's law as any other motor
I wouldnt worry about the heads themselves when it comes to blowing gaskets, are you using full studs to clamp them down?
you didn't happen to fire ring the heads/block did you?

so... I should probably stay far away from your car then? I have a knack for finding "areas of improvement".

aka... shit breaks when I'm near it.

we could estimate your true top speed capability. what is the drag coefficient for your car?

you are going to shoot for the 8's next... it never ends... till you either run out of money... or blow something up

I thought that you needed 1200-ish to hit 200mph..... what gives

gracias
the right gears and power combo with some weight reduction and traction should definately help too

we could estimate your true top speed capability. what is the drag coefficient for your car? I want to say it's .35 but certainly do not quote me on that...

why go for nines? what are you going to do if you hit 9.37? spend more money...lose some weight...

you are going to shoot for the 8's next... it never ends... till you either run out of money... or blow something up ... room for improvement...

the right gears and power combo with some weight reduction and traction should definately help too

I've changed the gear ratio in the diff and in the trans... got slicks for the drag strip and will use road course style slick race tires for the mile...

OMG, that door was so wide open, but I'm not feeling well so I'll be nice...

Headed into town to the hospital in a little while... 4 days no food, five days, very little liquids, way more exiting than entering... Docs are all in an uproar, doc on the rig only treats Pemex personnel, doc in Louisiana wants to give me a shot and says there is no risk of dehydration...and wont let the safety rep even start an iv to give supplemental fluids.... doc in Carmen Mexico says to send me in, and lots of others arguing... so to hell with em, I'm leaving the rig in a couple of hours on a chopper, going to see the doc in Carmen, and if he can't or doesn't help, then I'm going home....

Apparently there is a bout of stomach virus/bacteria going on out here, on multiple rigs, imagine that being in mexico... well, I've never been one to respond well to otc meds for stomach problems... All the medicos are "well just wait it out and it'll go away..." yet four guys from three rigs have been hospitalized already and are on iv fluids, anti-emetics etc... I have severe nausea, (spins, headache, dizziness) moderate vomiting, and substantial montezuma's revenge...

With me there was so much pissing and whining, for what reason I have no idea, and I finally told them I was going in and thats it.... or I quit... For anyone with medical training... "I'm at no risk of dehydration"... according to the doc in louisiana, but I have +3 to +4 skin turgor... and a total fluid intake of 2400 ml for four days... with no food intake.... other than two bites of a roll that came back to see me shortly thereafter... so to hell with em... I'm going in, and if I get better in Carmen fine, if I dontá gree with the treatment then I'm going to the US...
