ARH Slip Fit, how to seal?

Car in question is a G8, not a Camaro, but the headers share the same collector and slip fit design...

My collectors are leaking and ARH says their slip fits do not leak. How are you guys getting them to seal?

When using the supplied accuseal clamps, I still see a gap around where the pipes come together.

I tried the wide band clamps, but that made the problem worse.

Any tips?

I ordered flanges that I intend to weld on, but before I do that I wanted to give it one last shot at sealing the slip fit before I weld flanges on $1750 headers.

Load them up with copper RTV on all slip fit connections.

I thought of that, but I was worried about a chunk coming off and clogging the cat.

Plus isn't the temperature at the header collector over 1000 degrees at WOT? I believe that RTV is only rated at 700.

Defective parts or operator error. I don't have ARH so I don't know what they look like. Pictures would be a big help.

I had some leak issues on my catback connections. I used copper rtv and some saddle/u-bolt clamps I got from autozone for 3.99 each. These clamps are WAY better than what came with my catback.

Honestly, I'm not sure how hot the collector gets. You'll need to hit it with an infrared thermometer and find out for yourself.

As for a chunk coming off - the RTV shouldn't go inside the pipe but around the seams where the pipes overlap. I used it on all the joints in my catback and plan on doing the same when I man up to LT's/ORY depending on the style connections.

Mmmmm, never seen ARH with a slip fit. Are you sure they are ARH? Post pictures. They use a ball/socket type joint.

Think this weld is leaking? Look how different the last primary looks.

All ARH is slip fit... Best way to go too.

To the OP... are you sure you actually have a leak? Can you hear it?

Learn something new every day. Done ARH on mustangs and vettes, but only kooks/pfadt/tsp on 5th gens. Since all the other ARH I've done are ball/socket I assumed they were the same. My bad.
