2014 V6 Oil Pressure Fluctuating!
Good morning, I have a 2014 V6 with 38,000 miles on it. Basically my garage queen. The original battery finally died on me and after I replaced it with the new one when I started it up I noticed the oil pressure fluctuating, and I even got the low oil pressure turn motor off warning!
I realize there is absolutely no correlation to the battery being replaced and this issue but my research suggests it's either a faulty oil pressure sending unit, or a real issue. After about 20 minutes of messing around it finally stabilized at normal pressure and I even took it on a small test ride where it was fine. I monitored temps and everything was fine. For kicks I started it up last night and the pressure was fluctuating again, and I got the low pressure warning message! The car does have oil, full on the dip stick, 85% life left still, and I even checked the radiator to see if maybe I developed a leak where anti freeze diluted the oil's viscosity and the radiator was full. So, my next step is to try and check the sensor. I've googled and haven't found out where the sensor is located on the LFX, so I'm wondering if anyone can help with that, and, if there is another port\tap where I could hook up a mechanical gauge to see what the actual pressure is! Or if anybody has any other suggestions I'm all ears. Thank You |

I think its behind the alternator but i'm not completely sure.
I do remember boobtube had at least one video on swapping those out though.

See if there's any codes stored
I've seen the oil pump pick-up tube to block seal get compressed draws in air when first started before the pump picks up oil to seal the gap, Or it continues to pull some air causing oil pressure fluctuation. Usually after sitting for 6 hrs. or more |

Here ya go, right outta the Bill Clinton (Chilton) manual. Looks like the press sending unit is on the base of the filter housing. Step 2 a).
