I had my A6 tuned when the car was DYNO TUNED. You'll get you best tune overall this way. Leave D mode alone and have the M mode tuned more aggresive. I had 2nd and 3rd gears tuned. They now shift much harder.

HP Tuners does not supply calibrations... only the means to edit them.

I got the most fun-to-drive out of raising the part throttle shift points for 'S' mode. This results in shifts around town in the 2500 to 3500 RPM range.

I just tuned for higher MPH and higher RPM for WOT - my tuning shop is hard-core protect your transmission and didn't touch the shift points or TM on the tune even though I asked him to. Then of course when I told him I can just throw a racing tune on during racing and a standard tune on during normal driving he was all over the idea, figures

Anyway - golden rule of thumb here, do NOT remove TM completely if you are quarter-mile racing! I did just to make a couple laps to see what difference it made and, well besides spinning wheels in 2nd and 3rd gear shifts, the transmission would slip a little bit and I would run slower - so as a result, I have my TM tuned per gear: 1->2 70% (higher percent the more TM), 2->3 50%, 3->4 30%, 4->5 100% (5/6 are OD gears, don't want to blow them out), 5->6 100%

Thats how I ran for my 11.981 run and that's how I have run ever since. The only thing I modify now are shift points to try and get them right. And the shift points in the automatic are a PITA to tune because both a MPH must be set and an RPM must be set and both must be met to shift. Sometimes I hit rev limiter, sometimes I don't, I need to get it back to my tune shop and dyno tune the shift points so I can hit the end of the power band as well.

Sounds like you need to cut your shift times down. I agree about completely removing TM, though.

If you're hitting the limiter sometimes, then a) I'd invest in a tranny cooler and b) your shift points are too high/late anyway.

Tranny cooler is already installed :-) I need my shifts hitting 6600 - that is where my power-band starts to level out.

I just have a hard time tuning this transmission because of needed to have the speed and the RPM right - of course I had just found the fuel cut off at 6400 - that may have been the problem with trying to get it to run the same every time
