Woooooo.

By the way, I'm starting to think the 2.0T was originally slated to be the base engine for Traverse, then GM found out the 3.6L got better fuel economy and had to figure out a purpose for the 2.0T and created an RS model.

So how is GM going to market this RS being performance oriented when the 2.0T is down 55 HP from the 3.6? Granted it has 30 lb.ft of torque advantage, but its HP that sells people.

I'm all for the expanded use of the RS badge and packaging throughout the Chevrolet lineup, but the Traverse RS with its forced 2.0T and FWD only just seems stupid, plus it diverts from what RS is supposed to be, just a sporty appearance package.

Not to mention the Redline package with its blacked-out taillights looks way sportier.

That’s what will sell; a large SUV with only FWD and a little turbo 4.

It should still be quicker than my parents Sonic RS. Nearly double the power, with 'only' about 50% more weight.

I'm sure it will. People have an insatiable demand for crossovers, and are slowly becoming convinced that turbo4 > V6.

Not to mention, I bet most crossovers (and 0 SUV's) sold today have a 4 cylinder & fwd.

I'm happy they finally started putting something different in them than the 3.6L and 6T70.

Traverse RS. Wooooooo.

I actually saw a Traverse Premier Redline yesterday and it did look all right surprisingly.
When I first saw the Traverse unveiling, I was a bit underwhelmed. Looks OK I thought. But I have seen a few of the upper trimmed models out in the wild now, and I have to say I am a fan. Better than pictures that is for sure. I also thought it looked better than the Equinox, which to me, only looks decent in the top trim, otherwise looking boring and awkward in the rear.

I have only seen video and images of the new Buick Enclave, but assuming it also looks better in person, it should be a real looker. I like it a lot.

I think the Traverse RS looks good, but what the heck. So the only way to get a the turbo 4 cylinder, is in the RS? ...and then you are stuck with it? Yeah...something doesn't make an sense there. When I read "turbocharged" I got excited and thought maybe they went for a real surprise and slapped a turbo V6 in there. I was wrong.

Am I the only one that expects an RS package to be all show & no go?

For once I agree with you. But I would also expect a "Redline" package to have at least some go with it, not just striped wheels and black badges. I think GM's branding department has too many decision makers.

Likewise, I thought they were going to make an Explorer Sport competitor

RS trims on Chevrolet models never bring additional horse power, never.

That would have been great! I owned an Explorer Sport before my SS, was fun...
