Weak Starts?

Hey All,

I just picked up my 2015 2SS 1LE a little over a week ago. The previous owner recently installed a new battery. Every-time I start the car, it starts as if the battery is going dead or low.

Has anyone else run into issues like this? The car only has 37k on the clock so I would not assume its the starter going out already.

Thanks!

Google for Camaro Ground problems, that's the first thing I'd check. To frame, to engine etc.
These are notorious for camaro's especially that had CAI or headers installed.

These cars all turn over a little slow it seems. I charged up my battery because i thought it was dying. It started the same. Though mine is an 11. Might just be time to replace the battery for me anyway just due to time.

That was my first thought too but if you go to you-tube and watch a dozen videos of these Camaros being started, you hear the same starting sound a dozen times. It's just what these cars do.

My car turned over slightly slow since I bought it...seems common.

Thank you all for the replies. The battery was changed maybe 2-3 weeks ago at a GM dealership. The car does have an aftermarket CAI (unknown brand), so I will check the grounds.

Thanks!!

Mine does it too. But the battery is still strong. I guess it's just a built in mod lol.

Replacing the engine to body ground wire with a thicker cable will improve it. Had this problem with a Nissan I once owned.

I'd wager that one 'problem' is the battery being in the trunk. That accounts for a lot of voltage/amperage drop when running all the way back to the front of the car. All three of my Camaros turned over 'slightly slower' than my vehicles with front mounted batteries.

Watching YouTube videos and since buying my car they all sound the same....sounds like a slow start, however, they just keep starting. Must be how they are.
I’ve owned 3 BMWs and all 3 had trunk mounted batteries....no similar slow start sound in the BMWs. Unique to the Camaros I think.

I replace the factory ground wire with a better one under the hood and it made a massive difference on a nine-year-old battery, when I replaced it with an AGM it got even better.

anyone who has changed this engine ground can you be specific on where the ground is on the engine and the chassis, also detail what size/type wire you used to improve it? It will be helpful for anyone wanting to help a slow start.
