Arrow VVT 'VS' Normal Cam for L99?

Who has a VVT cam and what are the pros and cons? Was it cheaper? Is it more reliable? Sound better or the same? Videos and dyno pulls are appreciated. I am strongly leaning towards the Night Fury VVT.

PS: Sorry if I don't make much sense with my question, I'm new to the cam world!

VVT is our preference. Look at category 5 on the fast list. The fastest auto cars (top 3 auto cars) are all vvt equipped. To each their own?

I can share my experience with my "GPI" 510rwhp vvt setup.
I have been doing a ton of grudge racing in town. Theres a few members on here that I've spoken to with LS3 conversion cars with heads and cam and I literally put car lengths on them. Car launches hella sweet and it's a sweet idling cam. The car has been 7.20s in the 1/8 with 95* weather and spinning. Waiting for the weather to get better until I focus more on my times. My best comparison I can think of is a 2011 ss with an LG Motorsports G6x3 cam with heads and converter making 532rwhp that I raced a few times and I kept winning by a car. Yes a lot can happen he spun I spun but for being VVT it was surprising people at the track. Just depends what you want. GPI has done a great job specing this combo I run. My car is not a daily its a weekend toy but this combo should net me 10s on motor if th I ngs go well this fall. I haven't seen an ls3 converted car run near that.

Difference between a vvt cam vs non? Better gas mileage? More power?

More power, wider power band.

Staying VVT cost around the same. Maybe $50 cheaper lol. VVT will give you more power under the curve and peak around the same, but is capable of holding on longer. All this, of course, if your shop knows how to spec, install and tune one correctly.

This is the key.

The problem is, MANY of those long time LS tooners don't know how.

This should give you an idea of why so many on here recommend Rhino and GPI.

I know a convertor raises the price a lot, how bad is one needed? What difference does it make to the car?

I don't know how much difference a VVT cam would've made, but I decided to get a regular one from Livernois and they installed what's called a "displacement on demand delete kit." I'm assuming that's the same as an LS3 conversion?

Anyway, I'm extremely happy with their 2C cam and really can't imagine how I could've done better with a VVT cam. Aside from the sound, I picked up a little over 100 rwhp (probably not typical on non-FI cars, though).

I picked up 65whp from a GPI VVT cam that was spec'd for my upcoming turbo build. Blown away. I don't see why 75 whp isn't possible on an n/a spec cam.
Bang for the buck is incredible.

DOD (AFM) is deleted on both a VVT cam as well as LS3. TSP has a VVT cam that allows you to keep AFM but it's not recommended by most shops to keep it. The weak link in the stock valvetrain is the 8 AFM lifters, hence the reason they are replaced with LS3 ones. 100+whp gain isn't uncommon at all, even with a VVT cam.
