Big Oil Leak

Hey, guys.

I got a 98 3800 V6 I just got a bad oil leak recently.. on a 10 minute trip, I prob lose a quart of oil... My car runs almost perfect... I am not sure why it has just started to leak here is a few things i noticed.

-- Oil pressure gauge shakes
-- Massive leak
-- Oil seems to come out near the oil filter.
-- I changed oil filter, made sure it wasn't a double gasket
-- Oil drips all over from "oil pan" but I dont think it's coming from there.
-- Recent oil change..
-- Leak started off small, and became massive within a few hours.
-- Weather has just started getting colder. (if that means anything)

Any ideas what this could be. I am not a mechanic at all, or in school for automotive, so please try to be simple with answers..

Got my Oil Presure Sending unit changed, and it has helped the leak alot, but I am still getting a small leak when I look under the car after parking, but when I check the dipstick it is still full..

Have you tried getting under the car to see where the leak is still coming from?

I tried to, I don't have a good eye for it though. My buddy took a look, and thought it was the oil pan gasket, but I dont think so at all.. I did something bad, and used one of those "Fix a leak " products, but I am not seeing anymore leaks, I hear that the seals on that car are S***, So after I get everything repaired, and modded how I like, I will start saving up to get all those seals changed out.

When oil leaks that much it gets and blows everywhere while driving. Unless you cleaned everything perfect, you may just be seeing oil that is making its way down from the previous mess. There may still be a leak, but it could just be residual oil from the original leak, I hope that helps.

Good point.

OP, do you see a puddle at all under the car when you park it after driving it?
