I'm also a die hard Chevy man. Won't drive anything else. But I seriously looked into the scar pack charger, but it only comes in auto. Probably just kept me a Chevy only man. Challenger would be stupid, such a big car, might as well have an extra set of doors. It is literally a 2 door sedan. but that's just me. Still looks great though. |

I agree too. But for some people, they feel the same way we feel about manuals, but about autos. The shifting is a hassle to them. To me it's part of the driving experience. You're just not as connected with an auto. Maybe we have some type of ADD and we can't sit still while driving?

2015 SS Camaro: 9.17 pounds per horsepower. 2015 Challenger Scatpack: 8.71 2016 SS Camaro: 8.10 That, coupled with aero improvements, might see a Scat Pack killer.

For these times GM runs the car a number of times and they average out the runs posting that average for the performance of the car. So we will see some publications run slower then this and some run faster then this with the average being about GMs spec. Going through different publications times for the Challenger scat pack here are what I found. C&D 0-60: 4.2 seocnds 0-100: 9.6 seconds 0-150: 25.2 seconds 1/4mile: 12.6 @ 114MPH. Motor Trend 0-60: 4.2 seconds 0-100: 9.9 seconds 1/4mile: 12.6 @ 112.3MPH There are some other rumors, one being that the 6.4L Hemi is actually making more then 500BHP (seems to be par for the course with Dodge lately). 392 Hemi powered cars have dynoed at the rear wheels at over 450RWHP when they were rated at 470BHP at the crank. Based on dyno runs the 392 HEMI engine is probably making close to the full 525BHP that was shown when the engine was first shown off. Which starts to make more sense when you consider the weight of some of these cars. Based on the Car and Driver article the scat pack challenger in their test had a weight of 4,261 pounds (car had the 8 speed auto as well). If you assume 525BHP then you get a power to weight ratio of 8.11 pounds per horsepower. This beats the best power to weight for the 5th gen 9.2 pounds per horsepower (a bit better for a no options 1LE) however puts it a bit behind the 2016 SS Camaro at 8.1. So the 12.6 in the 1/4 mile for publications isn't out of line with GMs average of 12.5 for the manual and 12.3 for the automatic car. |

Just saying it seems like Chevy is forcing those that don't want that into the V6 with RS package. They could easily offer the 1SS/2SS with 18-19" wheels, a lower RAR like 3.31 or 3.55, all season tires, the sports suspension from the V6, 4 caliper brakes, standard cooling, etc. That would lower the price a few grand and bring in buyers. If you are over on M6G there are definitely 2 types of GT buyers. The "Touring" type that was a really nice V8 that is fast but great for long road trips and gives a nice ride/DD and gets somewhat decent MPG. The "Track/Performance" type that want their performance features and dont care about anything other then their GT being as fast as possible and as track capable as possible. I mean lets be honest, this doesn't hurt Chevy at all to offer/have a less 'track' ready SS. You're just swapping some minor things that do not affect the line or build process at all. I mean if Ford can do it, Chevy can. Options are good. |

If the 1LE package comes out in 2017, will I be able to upgrade my 2016 SS to 1LE?

Ok, now for the dinger.
It's 200 pounds lighter because it's a SMALLER car with a smaller fuel tank. And don't claim it's within an inch here and there. Every inch of steel and plastic weighs something. GM also announced the new 2016 Malibu is BIGGER and weighs 300 pounds less. The current Epsilon platform is porky as well as Zeta. So does GM get the max grade for the weight loss knowing that? Just for discussion.

Also the new Cruze due in February is bigger but weighs less than the version it is replacing per GM Media.
