2014 hood vent airflow

So I've got a 2010 Camaro SS and I've been thinking about adding the 2014 hood vent to my car but I've got a question about airflow. They put the hood vent onto the 2014-2015 to reduce lift, reduce underwood temps etc. and I was thinking that my Vararam intake would not allow as much air to flow out of the vent. Would this be a problem? I know that hot air will still vent but I'm wondering if it will be a decent amount less? Also it seems that the drip tray will empty right on top of the intake and I wonder if that will pose a problem as well?

I think the driptray will drain in front of the intake, where the hood latch is(not to say some residual water may get on it). So I'm pretty sure you would be fine there. Not sure about the other information but the vents definitely look awesome! Thinking about doing it myself!

The hood vent tray drips onto the top of the radiator/fan shroud.

Yeah and with my radiator leaned back to fit the vararam in there it will drip onto the intake. It looks like it would just run off the sides of the intake so that isn't much of an issue as there still won't be a chance of it getting sucked into the intake. What I'm mainly worried about is not being able to fully utilize the cooling effect and reduction in front end lift due to the intake covering nearly half of the vents. So if the intake being where it is in relation to the vent I need to think about a new intake or potentially the ZL1 hood/TL1 insert.

Am I on the right track with this one?

I think the ZL1 hood extractor sits even lower than the 14-15 style. I think you'll be ok with the 14-15 style.

Check out the hex-vents also. If you are just looking to relieve the heat.

2010 Camaro 2SS/RS with a K&N cold air Stainless Power headers, Magnaflow cat-back, staggered TSW Nurburgring's just a great daily driver.

I picked up all the 2014 hood vent parts too for my car.

As soon as we can I'll have my body shop buddy install it and I'll share if the car runs cooler (which is the goal).

I already have a 160 stat.

No Hex Vents for me, I don't think that system would vent heat as well.

I recently installed the vent and rain tray. It dumps water out just ahead of the radiator, but behind the hood latch. I don't think the rain tray will work with the VRam intake. Too much going on there fighting for space. I will say that the tray drains away water real good. My engine did not get wet during a weekend washing.

The hood vent works mostly by creating a vacuum, or low pressure area, inside the vent as the air rushes by it. Things partially in the way won't really matter a much as you think, because the vacuum is still being created.

I took the drain tray off .. You can see the heat coming out of it .. I'm sure it must help the engine bay

Good point and I didn't even think of that

Yeah the hex vents look cool but I also don't think they would do much for heat.

I still need to do this mod as well.... Maybe a summer project

I had the older version of the HEX vents and ran them without the tray. Heat poured out of them even when at a standstill.

Would be interested to hear if anyone has tried drip tray intact vs. drip tray removed and whether this had any effect on engine temps on a road course.

I have a Vararam airbox would that be a problem?
