you will need the facia and to hood, as the facia seems to be contoured to the design of the hood.

hopefully the crowd that is buying the ZL1 will be like most of the SS crowd...in the sense that the SSer's told the V6er's to go for it when they proposed replacing their factory V6 bumper cover with the SS one. False badging however, is another story...

heaters are going to hate. i personally think do to your car what you will, there is quit a bit of research and technology used to make the zl1 hood and fascia its a Mooney well worth it not just for looks people that are taking their rides to the strip and the track will think about doing this mod, it maybe worth it.

I wouldn't do the hood, but the side skirts and front fascia(even if an aftermarket company recreates them to fit bolt-on) would look great on a SS... i'm not one for cosmetic upgrades anyway(other than tint, etc.) so i'd probably still skip it, but as far as being a "poser" unless you advertised the car as a ZL1 with the hood and all, I don't see a problem with it
I think some of the best 2-valve new edge GT Mustangs are those with the Cobra rear fascia, now not with "Cobra" lettered on it, but just the look of the rear fascia and you can get them without the Cobra lettering... the same applies to the '99-'01 Cobras, they look awesome with the '03 rear fascia

Its not about being a Poser. The ZL1 has a much nicer looking and aggressive front Fascia. I would want that and the hood. Because I have the SS I can't trade it in as I would lose to much. So I I can tweak to get the looks I want on this car. Its not to show off, Could give a damn who looks at it. Not trying to fool anyone. I'd keep all my SS emblems on.
