2015 1SS was thirsty

Just changed my oil . Amsoil 5w30 with Amsoil oil filter... she took all 8 quarts ... 1 year or 7500 mile interval As called out by factory specs. I know Amsoil full synthetic with w Amsoil filter can go 15,000 miles but I’ll stick w the manual. I do swear by Amsoil though and I purchased the gear oil and LSD additive for my next job. Love my baby so much she gets pampered ....

Once a year is the right interval for cars not reaching the recommended mileage. If you owned a $300,000 Lambo, the recommendation would be the same.

On my 2010, which specs Mobil 1, the life remaining is typically still over 40% at 7,500 miles.

12,000 miles is the recommended oil interval for Porsche, for example, using full synthetic oil, of course. My 2010 Camaro meter projects to about 14,000, because I do a lot of highway road trips, not grocery runs.

Personally, I have never gone over 8,000 miles in the Camaro. In years when I was on track to exceed the oil life on miles, I simply changed the oil in the middle of the summer. But in the last 3 years, it's been annually at or below 7,000.

On my other GM cars, which call for Dexos 2, the meter does work out to about 7,500 miles, and I typically change at 6,000 or 6 months, since these cars do see a lot of short trips, which are particularly hard on oil in Winter, when moisture builds up.

With Mobil 1, there is absolutely no sludge that I can see, and no clouding.

I change mine once a year regardless of mileage or when it says, I probably don't get near 5k a year but I think its worth it.

I go 3k miles or once a year. I can’t fathom someone who thinks they need to change the oil more than once a year if they drive under 3k miles a year. My last camaro I put 35k miles on it in 15 months of ownership. Still changed oil every 3k miles. Just a waste to change it multiple times a year if your mileage is so low.

Well considering full synthetic Amsoil oil and filter extends oil life to 15,000 miles or 1 year me changing it at 7500 miles is pampering. The factory oil change interval IAW the manual is 7500 miles w factory dexos oil.. so yes to me a much higher quality oil and filter which could extend the life another 7500 miles but still changed at interval is pampering . #amsoil

I change mine every 6 months regardless. Only about 4k miles but mostly non freeway miles.

Thirsty

I can't imagine an oil change being such a big event that it has to be announced to the entire world.

I use Castrol Edge full synthetic and K&N filter. I change both oil and filter at 10k or one year, whichever comes first.

That's weird my 2013 owners manual specifies Dexos1 which is actually a Synthetic Blend not a fully Synthetic oil. I wonder if the owners manual changed after 2010? My first free oil change got the Dexos1 blend version but I've used full synthetic ever since. I keep reading here about our cars requiring full synthetic oil but I could never confirm that.

I see there is a Dexos1 Gen2 full Syn oil now that is required on 2018 models and newer but that's a fairly recent change. My car gets Castrol Full Synthetic currently as that is what my dealer uses & they've done all of the service so far on my car.
