Windshield Replaced HUD blurry

The windshield was replaced with the same Pilkington HUD glass that was in the car but now the HUD is a little blurry and double looking. Both windshields did not have the GM stamp on them. Not sure why this would happen. It almost seems to get clear then blurry back and forth. The glass guy used a big electric chisel that vibrated the entire car badly, I wonder if maybe it damaged the HUD display?

Who replaced your windshield? Why did he use an electric chisel to remove the old one? Just had mine replaced and they used a long thin wire/line attached to a 'reel' type device that pulled the line between the window frame and windshield to free it up and remove; very simple, easy and chance of damage to the car.

It's not a chisel. It's called an Equalizer Express. I use one every day. It's built specifically for glass removal. Used properly it won't damage anything. You can also wire the windshield out, they are both accepted methods. I use them both when it is needed.
There should be writing in the windshield, there is a number that starts out DW, what's the numbers after that? The only thing I'm wondering is they used the non HUD part.

Most likely they didn't use a HUD windshield. You should call the company that replaced it and complain, make them change it again with the correct windshield.

Its the right windshield, says HUD and is the exact windshield as they removed. What concerns me is that electric chisel tool vibrated the car badly. I was told before they came to replace the WS that they only use a wire to remove the WS. I have no idea why they used the chisel tool. I think the display is damaged from them using the tool because at times the HUD looks clear. Clear then blurry back and forth. Another PITA with this car...................

Call the company and tell then your concern. We warranty all our installations. That's your best direction.

If the HUD is blurry, they definitely installed a non-HUD windshield, I would call the installer back ASAP!

As you can see in that vid, there is no way that tool damaged your hud unit.

Yup, the stroke is so short it more vibrates than anything else.

I can see it damaging the HUD..Just MO. Besides vibration...which looks like it could have done it in itself...tool could have been dropped. Unless OP is crazy...the HUD worked before the install and now it doesn't. Other than the glass swap no other changes occurred. If it's not a faulty windshield itself I think the installer may have damaged it. OP..I think there is a case to be made if they advertised no Equalizer or told you they do not use one and then they did. Bottom line...you should get it checked by a dealer and if its the glass itself the installer should replace and if its the HUD you'd have to somehow argue the Equalizer vibration may have damaged it.

The HUD looks ok then it looks blurry and double image. Does this constantly since the WS install. I think if it was the WS it would be blurry all the time. It was crystal clear before the install.

Obviously the tool they used is not the one shown in the video posted above. I could hear LOUD metal vubrations inside my HOUSE when they used the tool.

The real kicker in all this is pulling the windshield revealed the car was repainted and the welded seam on the pass side under the WS was tweaked open. Car has a clean car fax no accident's reports. Just goes to show you Car Fax is worthless.

UPDATE I called the glass company and they told me the HUD needs to be recalibrated by a dealer.

Turn down the brightness so you don't get the ghosting, or whatever it's called in layman terms. I think it's refraction from a different layer, FWIW.
If it's bright outside you would notice it less than dark outside.
I doubt its something else unless the unit is somehow loose and moving around, which seems unlikely.

I love how people comment without reading all the previous comments first. Hopefully the recalibration doesn't cost anything.

As always, just my 2 pennies
