It's a little deeper sound but not by much.

Indeed. I would love to see the comparison.

Just an opinion, but thats a little pricey, i ordered the new era elbow for 89.95 and you can buy the k-n drop in filter for less than fifty if you shop ebay. So you could be in the 135-140 range pretty easily.

Did you get just the elbow or did you get all the hardware with it to? The SLP kit Contains:
One elbow (Air Tube)
One high flow oiled reusable filter
OEM throttle body seal/mount to air tube
One rubber coupler for air box/air tube
One air line to replace the stock one
Two clamps for rubber coupler.

And SLP usually has some kind of promotion going on 10% off /free shipping etc when your order is over $100 dollars.

Let's not forget about shipping.

And yes it pays to shop around; Summit has the SLP kit for $179 plus shipping.

Regardless if you order the kit from SLP, Summit, or any other dealer, it's a good price for what you get.

Yes, it comes with everything but a filter. Not putting down anyone or anything, i just find myself shopping for the best deal all the time, one thing that i wish was different with the new era is i think i would rather of had plastic instead of the polished aluminum they offer.

my only gripe about that is, it really doesnt alter the air intake box so how can they call it a CAI kit? it is basically a new elbow & filter to reduce turbulance for better air flow..I dont see how this can lower the intake air temp any lower than stock..

dont get me wrong, it is still a great mod and looks good, but it shouldnt be tagged as a CAI. That should be a intake elbow & filter kit..
But.........if you look at the shoot-out Janetty did, most of the so called CAI's temps were higher than stock....so what does that mean? I have been going back and forth on a CAI, but can't bring myself to spend $400 or $500 dollars for a few HP. This looks like a good alternative.

Actually some where lower than stock, and where you going to get 10-13 RWHP everyday for the life of the car for 4-5 hundred bucks.

High on the HP to dollars Ratio.

Ted.

But, that is max hp at an RPM range that many will not hit on a daily basis. The averages were lower. I know to get real gains you have to do multiple mods, like what you have done with your kits. I just want to make the right choices. I had a 1979 camaro (back in 1979) and I have been down the road of one Mod after the other, some good, some a waste of time. Just being cautious. By the way, I really pay attention to your posts. Thanks for everything you have done.

Ted,

In your professional opinion what numbers would you expect from SLP’s kit?

I am not even going to try and guess but know this.

The little pods on the side of the original tube are Resonance Cancellation chambers.

Resonance can alter air flow in a negative way, I obviously don't have the equipment to measure it but I am very aware of the technology and how it works.

I have tested the factory air box with the stock filter, No filter, and with K&N filter and could not measure any HP difference on the dyno.

There may be some HP gains in the tube but Until I try one We won't really know for sure.

Ted.

I've had mine on for about a month or so now, and one thing that was strange was it advertises a Blackwing filter, but it came with a K&N No big deal or difference I'm sure, was just an odd thing when I opened the box.

I went this route, Honestly the stock air box is nice and when using the better filter and tube IMO its not a bad setup...It might not make the most power but it should be worth 5hp over a totally stock setup but with the look of oem...I really dont like any cai I have seen other than the Halltech...

Are there better kits out there, yep but at what price..
300, 400, 500????

I didnt buy this car to make it a race car like my 10 Sec All Motor 2000 WS6 so for me the SLP setup is just fine.....
