Camaro Focus Group

Hello all. I've been invited to a Camaro focus group down in Miami. It's all legit, I've done tons of research.

Pays $200 -- from my understanding is that its from Ford and they want to see why I chose to buy the Camaro over the Mustang. And then to see what type of person buys a Camaro. They are asking me to make a photo collage of my favorite brands (JCPenney, Target, etc.) to get an understanding of me.

Anybody else going? Or has anybody done one of these before?

How does Ford know you own a Camaro?

My guess would be for pulled records of people that have registered a Camaro. Your car registration is an open record.

Yeah. Public record, I'm sure. I saw online somebody who bought a Honda was pulled into one run by Hyuandi. They wanted to get the in mind of why somebody would by the Honda instead of the Hyuandi.

Just be honest with them. Tell them what you like about Camaros and what you dislike about Mustangs. Maybe looks (IMO, Mustangs don't mod well on the exterior. It doesn't take much for them to start looking ricey) or performance. Stuff like that.

Then, I'd tell them that "Ford Sucks."

Ha ha, good luck with that...

I'm sure Ford won't ever ask me to do one of those after I gave them the finger on an ordered car

Take the $200 and go for it.

Just tell them this:

"Every now and then a guy who drives a Mustang likes to close his eyes and imagine it's a Camaro."

Not all of us. I do wish it was a Shelby.

Once again, I'm disappointed in Ford. Seems like they'd be less concerned about why you bought a Camaro and more concerned about fixing the things people that buy Mustangs are thinking about.

I'm glad to see that you've been invited to this sort of focus group. Any opportunity to have a role in improving a company's offerings is a sort of social democracy that we need. How often do we buy things that we wish were just a little better? Your input could be a big part of improving future products. If it is from Ford, then that's good on them for trying to find out why their chief competitor is beating them on this product. I wish more companies sought meaningful input—not email surveys that barely touch on the substance of the product—from their customers.
