2010 YENKO Camaro not what Don Yenko would have built

I have been a big fan of Don Yenko and his SYC car's for as long as I can remember. I have been to Canonsburg PA. I have walked through his original dealership as well as his dealership he built before he passed. I have had friends that restored original Yenko/COPO Camaro's. With this said, I feel that the new 2010 Yenko Camaro is not the way that Don would have built a 2010 YENKO SC/Camaro. The original 1969 Camaro's were COPO cars from the factory. They were base Camaro's with cast iron 427's and heavy duty transmission's and heavy duty rear ends. This prototype Yenko thay are showing at SEMA is sad display of an Iconic car of yesterday. In my personal opionion I would have liked to see a base apearing 2010 Camaro with a LS7 power plant "427" replace the original yellow bowtie with a blue one "Via 69." I would have liked to see wheels that looked more like the original Atlas wheels that were originally offered on Yenko's. I would have also liked to see some type of special Stewert Warner Green light gauges. The paste on ground effects look terrible! These are just my thoughts and I look forward to seeing what everyone else thinks. Here are a few Yenko pictures. Jeff

I've been saying it all along. Raping a name for a buck is all they're doing.

It seems most of the aftermarket companies are simply strapping on a Magnusen with a CAI and some fancy stickers. Where's the originality?

wow you guys are really ripping on these builders hard... The car (2010 camaro) has only been available for a few months and they came up with some ridiculous setups... christ the one is making 1000hp and looks stock...

Ease up a little...

My hat is definitely off to some of the crazier builds, but my beef is with the so called "5th gen supercars". Camaro Performers recently did an article on them featuring Hennessey, Nickey, and a couple others. It seems that every Tom, Dick and Yenko is bolting on a blower and calling it a "special edition". It totally dilutes the market. I'd rather save the cash and the flashy vinyls and bolt on suspension and a blower in my garage.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents.

*flame suit on!*

Hmmm...you mean like this:

This is the *only* 2010 "Yenko" Camaro prototype on the planet that has the approval of the Yenko family...it is being put together by a coordinated effort between the Yenko Sportscar Club and Nickey-Chicago, with direction and input from the Yenko family itself. LS7 shortblock w/cnc'd LS3 heads, A6 trans & converter by RPM, severe duty axles & shaft...you get the idea. You'll be able to see this car along with one of Don's daughters at the MCACN show in Chi-town later this month.

The ultimate "Bolt on" LS7 427ci.

All of our Stage III Super Camaros start with a 427ci LS7 based engine.

Then you have several options;

Naturally Aspirated

Super Charged

Twin Turbos

Why don't you ask the guys who actually built the Super Cars back in the '60s-'70s who still work with us what they think? You can talk to them in person at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals this November 21st and 22nd!

The only thing from this year's SEMA (that I've seen so far) that really gets my juices flowing was the Challenger 1320...stripped-down interior, Hurst shifter, 550hp, blacked-out police wheels, drag radials. Ahem, we need a Camaro 1LE option.

I think the reason people are "ripping on the builders" is because, as we scrolled through Tribone's pics, many of the cars looked the same. It is obvious now that Revolution is the best place to get the hood, since 90% of the Camaros there had that hood on. Many made the same modifications (added the same supercharger, used the same spoilers, same grilles). The only way to tell a difference between cars was the paint jobs, in many cases.

As Brandotron said, everyone is swapping out for an LS9 and calling it "special" or adding the same supercharger that the three cars next to theirs have, and theirs is "special" but that one is "special" oh and so is that one... I don't think anyone is saying that the builders didn't work hard on their projects, and some obviously worked very hard in creating their own unique parts. We now have a wide variety of spoilers and grilles to contemplate. We've seen a couple designs of aftermarket SS badges to replace the bowties.

To call something "special" when there is no exclusivity is the issue I think people are having.

Very nice! I would change the SS front with the air vent to a standard and we are what I am talking about! Very nice!

I would love to have a 427, CAI, headers, exhaust and a good tune.
