13 1le header touching steering rod?

I installed speed engineering headers on my 13 1le and noticed today the steering shaft is touching the header does anyone know any way to fix this or is putting a dent in the header my only option...getting tuned Friday and am afraid all the moving the engine will do on the dyno will break the rod any info will help

I’d go ahead and dent the header. Engine masters on motor trend proved it makes little to no difference in power. I’ve heard of a few guys having the same problem and that’s the only solution I’ve seen

Is it hitting the actual shaft or the rubber boot around the universal joint? My kooks were touching the rubber boot, so simply cut that boot off. No issues now.

What part is touching? Mine are indented and it is barely touching the rubber boot. I have TSP and IIRC their instructions say that you can remove the rubber boot or leave it. But I have left it and it has not hurt anything. But if it is directly touching the shaft, I would have to agree, and indent them.

yeah unfortunately with speed engineering headers, you have to dent the header to clear the steering shaft, there are multiple threads saying the same thing.

First check your motor mounts , then if needed get the hammer . Best bet is to mark it , take it off dent it and reinstall .

Check the other side as well. Some folks have had one passenger side heat shield bolt try to punch a hole in their headers. If it is hitting the header, you can usually cut it back to near the nut and leave the other bolt alone.

Thanks for your help Mike Norris at Norris motorsports in Plainfield Indiana tried to move the rack but since its electric no luck but he did a great job tuning I'd recommend him to anyone out there...deffinately a straight shooter...he also noticed the passenger side header is touching the frame...just a word of advice to anyone avoid speed engineering headers...if your looking for cheap you'll get what you pay for...the welds on the headers are imo shit ..(but I'm a welder) and just fit enough to get by with problems...save your money and go for a better known company...I'm allready saving to change mine out.....there goes money for a cam..thanks to everyone for thier input
