A tune up..is strictly changing out the plugs...…. A tune allows you to shift faster and better with a automatic transmission making it better, but a good dyno tune is in the 500$ range and better down with at least some minimal modes of headers and CAI to make it worth it. A tune can be had also from just a handheld.....for cheaper than a dyno...

If you have basic bolt ons like an intake and exhaust a hand held tuner works okay. It's just gonna advance the timing a bit. You usually gain so me midrange power and torque but nothing substantial. We usually say to save your money for a good dyno tune once you start breaking into more serious mods like headers or some engine mods. We offer full dyno tuning in the Chicago burbs if you're interested in coming down

I have an all otherwise stock tuned L99. I think the misconception about tuning a stock car is assuming a large change in RWHP. There won't be. I doubt if its more than 10 but hard to say. What it does do is really change the personality of the car especially the trans. And that's where its worth every penny. There is nothing you can do to an L99 for the small cost of a handheld that will give you such a big $hit eating grin....

Most people put on a CAI as a first step and it likely costs more than tuning. No comparison in the two results.

My car will chirp the shift to third at around 50 mph with the nannies still fully on & it will light up 2nd if I choose to. Been many the a-hole revving ricer who backed off when they heard my car go into 2nd..... This said as noted get with Dynostve & see what the stock L99 should have been from the factory. you won't be disappointed.

I was surprised what the dynosteve did for me.
He had an answer to all my questions, nothing was a problem, advised me with the selection of parts on my Camaro, gave me beautiful discounts and
created a custom tune. Everything went quickly, simply, just the way I like it.
And I remind, I'm not from the USA. Everything was sent to over the sea.

I still have to finish - Camaro now drive my girlfriend, but dynosteve has my a big respect!

Well you should also check the spark advance, points, distributror, dwell and timing. Oh wait, it’s not 1969 - never mind.

We offer great mail-order tuning for the L99 Camaro's, this will make a big difference on how sporty the car feels with the trans tuning and throttle response. The power gains are minimal like other have mentioned, probably around 20whp or so which is noticeable on the seat of the pants dyno. A CAI and possibly a thermostat would be a nice addition to the tuning to allow the engine to breath!
