Pushrods.......

So my neighbor just came over, to recruit me into helping him to a trunnion upgrade and pushrod swap this weekend. I say OK, lets see what you got.

He shows me this BTR V2 trunnion kit. Cool.
Then he whips out this Michigan Motorsports ( aka CHINA) pushrod kit. I say no way are we using that junk.

I call over to Manton, and they make a really nice LS Pushrod kit, for only a few dollars more. FYI , Manton is one of the premier pushrod makers in the world.

So he's shipping the M/M Chinese stuff back.

Who would buy this M/M stuff, when Manton's are so competitively priced?

I guess there is a sucker born every minute.

I've been using BTR but don't really know too much about them except they run about .015 over. I believe that GPI's pushrods are right on though.

Measuring each one and getting the correct length just as important as the brand of pushrod.

Everyone has their own brand, For hydraulic roller stuff I prefer Trend as they make a ton of push-rods for a lot companies/shops. Smith Brothers makes nice trunnions just not as nice as CHE's kit. Can't go wrong with any of those listed. I'm certain there are a lot of people on here who are not in the industry.

Well, I do know about Manton, and Smith Brothers, had Smith Brothers trunnions in my build, was a good product, no issues, switched to CHE, as for Manton, for the price, the BTR pushrods were just as good of a product. Manton has been around for quite some time, as has Smith Brothers! Everybody has their preferences they like.

People are ignorant, not in a negative way, just human nature. We see Michigan Motorsports on Amazon, they are a Prime vendor, and prices are good. Done, purchase made, too easy.

Sure there are better products out there, but most people are not "enthusiasts" like you and I, so they don't spend hours/days/weeks/months/years of their time researching and learning about details and aspects of our vehicles, components, and vendors.

I have a neighbor who is "building" a 68 Mustang in his garage. Great guy, super nice, but he isn't a car enthusiast. His parts mostly come from Summit Racing, and typically whatever is the least expensive product/brand they offer in the part he needs. He has hired "professionals" to help him out and they have hacked the crap out of his honestly very nicely restored car. He doesn't see any of it as a problem, he LOVES this car and it brings him joy. I help him out as much as I can and he returns the favor by helping wrench on my Camaro. He's just ignorant, and I'm helping educate him where I can, Just like you and your neighbor's pushrods. It's what we do as enthusiasts to spread the love and knowledge.

I run the BTR V2 trunnion upgrade and they've worked great so far. I got the BTR pushrods too when that time came around and found some of them bent. When I say bent I mean I rolled them on granite and could see the wow in the middle using a flashlight. It wasn't a ton, about .005" if I remember right but I remembered something someone said to me once. A bent pushrod is also known as a spring. LOL. I returned the bent ones and got more straight ones to install. This is all on my channel if interested to watch. Cheers guys.

Yup.... most everything from China is like that. Looks OK, until you look close.

And thats the crazy part to me..... Manton has $100 into their pushrods and sells them for $160.

M/M has $20 into their pushrods and sells them for $120, undercutting Manton's price, and is perceived as .... "the better deal".

But is it? No.

Do M/M' work? Sure, lots of people seem to run them. M/M might be the better deal, but Manton's or Smith Brothers are the better value.

You made a good post SS/CTS. Folks should read it again.
