I would like to know the torque of your car, with 530 HP on the ground, it is going to be a very good number. It is torque that wins light to light races.

Regardless, that is going to be one fine car when you get it.

I drove a buddy's Lingenfelter Vette once, and you just could not compare it to one delivered by Chevrolet. It was Apples to Watermelons. Really, really BIG watermelons.
The torque looks like 450-490 from about 2K-6k rpms - alot of low end grunt. I was going to have the S/C put on by a local place but Lingenfelter offers so much more for a little money plus a warranty.

That torque line is almost flat from 2 to 6. It is going to pull like a freight train.

Well I've been reading this thread for quite a while now and looks interesting. I recently moved over from a Pre-Ordered 2010 Camaro 2SS to an 09 GT500 and I'm very satisifed with my decision. Even though it's stock, the car is fast. Very fast. One thing that really made me decide on going with the GT500 was the price. For a couple of thousand dollars more, I was able to get more power, better interior and a whole lotta room for upgrades. And from what i've researched on the mods, it's less expensive than i thought. For about 1100 bucks, i can bounce the HP numbers close to 570-600RWHP on stock blower. I can't imagine what a KB or Whipple will do on it. BTW, the 2010 GT500 has somehow taken away the blower whine on the gt500. That's part of the excitement on these cars. That's another reason i stuck with an 09. Also im not to happy with the rear look on it although the wheels look very nice i must say..

Though I disliked the Hood and rear of the GT500 07~09, the engine is a beast. With slight mods you are making good good power. Heh a funny story is that RIGHT after I bought my Saleen Supershaker, a GT500 engine/tranny came out of a wreck one for the SAME price I payed for my S/C !!!! Gah !

But I am happy with my setup But dam...a GT500 engine/tranny swap would have worked to ! I would have worked out the Shaker Hood thing...

The law of supply and demand must be different in the mid-west. I did a search on cars.com for:

Ford

Mustang

2007-2010

$35,000 to NO MAX (to capture GT500)

within 250 miles of my ZIP of 62226

And it returns 58 vehicles, and I'm surprised how much these cars are selling for. The first 3 are all 08's advertised for over $80K. The CHEAPEST was a 2007 GT500 for $36,498

I didn't realize how expensive these things are. For that kind of money I'll take a Z06. No way would I spend that much $$ on a Mustang.

I'll be sure to dyno mine. I'm interested in what everyday production cars put out.

Check the last part of the clip...I think this guy has a KB SC on his Shelby but the SS comes very close to it...

Thank you and the porsche I brought was a resale, originally around 76,000 new considering it was a 911 carrera. So yeah If a mustang is in that class or even the camaro(which I own) then I guess paying that type of money for one would be ok, but since its not I'll pass on a mustang or camaro that cost that much.

I agree with you.....yes im a diehard chevy guy and honestly I am giving Ford a hand here for the work they have done with this car very impressive i will say.
However IMO the Gt500 doesnt rank with a Camaro SS Ever or is it the other way around either way you get what im saying.
Unless we get a Z28 the Gt500 is Z06 material.
Now drop $10,000 on a Z06 and your talking some good competition
And No imo the ZR1 is more like Ford Gt material thats more of a supercar.

im not a factory supercharger kind of guy. I like old school push rods and cams all motor doing the work.

This new 5.0L im sure will gain some respect from me towards fordm meaning actually doing some homework on there motors rather than supercharging it.
OF course the new Gt500 is going to be fast can you say supercharger ?
Remove that supercharger and play with that 5.4 and lets talk.

anyone can add a power adder like SC or NOS and get the big boom.

lets bring in the 5.0L add an exhaust , Cam and etc and now we are talking....good old fashion american hp from a MOTOR !!!!!!!!!

Camaro SS vs Mustang Gt vs Challenger Srt8 the future for now is bright

My props to gm on the new IRS setup. The Gt500 has a Solid rear axle and it looks the Camaro with an IRS planted and got the shelby off the line just a little.
however just like we expected the supercharger kicked in and it was over.

Good race and for a stock im sure Camaro im proud knowing its still new all the hp isnt there and mods will help.

Now give me a 2010 Camaro SS with an A6 automatic , tuned , exhaust , Torque converter and a Cam and lets play. ( Tune is a must SCREW torque managment )

Sure manuals are fun as hell to drive if you wanna road race or bang through the gers but todays automatics have every advantage over a manual....I hope the driver with the stick can drive and hope he doesnt miss a gear because the A6 won't.

Lol. hate to break it to ya, but according to their own thread, right here in this forum, 12.5 is not going to cut it. Look up the thread where the GT500 with a KB ran 11.1 @ 129. Those are the type of GT500 you will go up against. The only way your taking a GT500 is if its stock, and has a very bad driver behind the wheel.

Hell GT's F/I will give S/C camaro's more than a run for their money. When you mod, its a whole different animal. From Mustang Source:

Took my Techco ride down the track for the first time yesterday at Atco. Left from idle and just rolled into it. Suspension is 100% stock besides lowering springs and the tranny is stock also so I was a little worried about breaking something. 60' on Mickey Thompson drag radials was only 1.8 and it still ran a 11.32@123. Has easy 10 second potential. I'm super happy with the results!

I'll get a roll bar in it and get a 10 second pass out of it in the next couple of weeks. We have dialed it back to a 11.5 to keep it legal for the rest of the weekend. If you follow the NMRA, Derek Kernodle is driving it in competition.

Video of the pass

12.5? That must not have been a great driver as we know a CAI and tune can put you at 12.5 (although not at 129 mph).

Yep, modding up cars can really change the results. I'm impressed with the results thus far and am interested to see when they start hitting performance walls (aka the cars start exploding).

Those $80K GT500's are KR's, not regular GT500's. Mid-to-low $30's is about the going rate for a non-KR GT500.

Yeah, my friend was offered a 2007 GT500 for $33k CAD. He would have taken it if he didn't have a rhino payment (you know, those 4x4 golf cart dealies), a house payment, a truck payment, and a million other things.
