Lingenfelter’s New Weapon in Optima Challenge: the “L28 Camaro”

The guys at Lingenfelter Performance Engineering will be toting a brand new weapon to take on the baddest street cars in the U.S.A. at the upcoming 4th Annual OPTIMA Ultimate Street Car Invitational. The event has gained a reputation of bringing together the biggest names in the automotive performance industry and some of the most impressive hand-built supercars that America has to offer. You had better be locked and loaded if you want to take on this field of contenders- and Lingenfelter is bringing out the big guns with their 2010 “L28” Camaro.

The L28 Camaro project team was kind enough to share some of the details of their secret weapon with us, and we can tell you the L28 Camaro’s mile-long modification’s list is topped off by an LPE-built LS7 that churns out 681 horsepower and 588 pound-feet of twist, and LPE’s signature body kit for the 5th Gen Camaro. That big, beautiful body will be rolling on a set of 20×10.5 Forgeline wheels, and enormous six-piston Brembos paired with 15-inch two piece rotors ought to stop the Camaro in a hurry, while the LPE/Pedders SportsRyder Supercar Coil-over Suspension package will keep it all firmly planted to the track.

The 2011 Annual OPTIMA Ultimate Street Car Invitational will be held on Saturday, November 5th, at Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch in Pahrump, Nevada. We can’t wait to see how this car performs, and for the first time ever, spectators will be allowed to purchase tickets for the event, and will get to see first-hand just how well the LPE L28 Camaro will stack up against its stiff competition.

This will be a great event to keep track of. Anyone going that could take some videos would be nice to post here! Congrats to the hard working, creative folks at LPE and all sponsors.

So SLP does a ZL1 version before Chevrolet...and now Lingenfelter does a L28 (come on its their Z28 version) before Chevrolet. O, please let Chevrolet put out a limited run of Z28s before the platform changes. Would be nice, no?

Well, there is two more years of G5 NO? Well, it sure as sh@t should happen! Two years is too long to wait without giving the Boss something to worry about.

We ran a 1:51.3 around the Spring Mountain Race Course, and finished with the 9th fastest time of the day. The remaining results are still coming in. Our goal was to finish top 10 in the road course. Not bad for a 4,100+ lbs. car [including driver] !!

Click the first link to view the gallery, which I'll be adding to throughout the next few days.
