Trunk doesn't open - Quick Fix !

If your Trunk Doesn't open with the remote or release button on the door ....

First off you can open the trunk by using your key for the trunk emergency lock located behind the rear seat cushion on the driver side ( between plastic cover and seat cushion )

The Error could and will most likely come from the common problem that the cables of the trunk release mechanism inside the harness are damaged. ( Like in my picture)

The following pictures of my 2 camaros of which both wire harnesses got crushed between the trunk lid and the seal. ( While closing the harness will bend and then move in between those moving parts.

To prevent that the harness will have to be made " Stiff " to prevent it from bending. I used a sunglass tepmles and taped it onto / inside the harness to make it stiff and prevent it from bending in between the trunk lid and seal.
I then covered it with a wire conduit / channel.

I can recumbent for every Generation 5 owner to do this for precaution !

Oh ok... could be I only have convertibles.

Do you know where a coupe owner can open the trunk in case the trunk won't open with the remote or release button ?
Mybe you can let us know if your wire harness bends towards the lid of the trunk too or maybe thats only the case with the convertibles.

Then you're doing it wrong. THIS editor puts them in, with the INSERT
IMAGE icon. You just pasted the links, instead of using that button icon.

I figured it out...

No I actually tried both ... using the " insert Image " button and just pasting the link so people can at least click the link. Tried it with a different browser too... and uploaded the images onto 2 different platforms... kind gave up on it..

I believe in our case, we would have to fold the rear seat(s) down and crawl into the trunk and pull the emergency release from inside the trunk
