What other track cars have you guys had? What I find appealing about the 1LE is that it seems like a great combination of street/track, of course so does thenZL1.

I keep looking at the 1LE but can't talk myself into switching from my current car.

How long have you been driving the Porsche on track?

Would this be a dedicated track car?

No, I'm also on a Chumpcar team so I would only track it a few weekends a year. That's why it is appealing to me, seems like a 1LE would be a good street/limited track car. Plus I love a V8 !

Compared to what you have been driving, I think you'll find it feels heavy and has too much understeer. Compared to what you have been driving it will be a steal too

With some mods, a 1LE leaves a wide range of cars looking at Chevy tail lights. Here is what I would do with a 1LE.

1. Permagrin Package, 32mm rear sway, sub-frame and radius bushes.
2. Oil Cooler, a Fluidyne with -12 lines.
3. SRF Brake Fluid
4. Cobalt Friction Pads XR1 up front and XR3 in the rear.
5. Front Brake Ducts
6. Five Point Harness and a Hoop with a Removable Cross Bar

These six steps transform the 1LE from a very good daily driver / HPDE car to a very good daily driver and very good track car. If you want to run at the front of the pack we do just a bit more.

7. Heads, Cam Headers, we want 500 RWHP, but no more than 650.
8. Supercars and a handful of rear bushings.
9. AccuSump for some engine protection.
10. Differential Upgrade / Swap. We go to the ZL1 differential because it is stronger in case and in function. It will put power down in the tuns, better than the 1LE. It also is designed for a cooler, but you'll plumb your to a rear mounted cooler (no extra weight up front). We want the 1LE gears so that means we swap between the two units. There is a bit more involved, but you get the idea.

With these 10 upgrades, and driving skills to match the first event you should attend is your Porsche club track day . Let them over you Chevy... if they can get close enough.

You do know that you start your runs with -2 seconds on the timer when you have installed a Permagrin package on your 1LE at the Justice Pete C5FV CamaroCross, don't you?
I don't track my car enough to justify the $1grand. But, it looks like a solid kit.

The best part of tracking the 911 is durability but even the consumables get expensive. I'm considering signing up for Bondurant so I can get a 1LE out on the track.

So the 1LE with the 10 things you outlined - is it a better track car than the ZL1? How close will that put the 1LE to the cost of the ZL1?

A 1LE with the 10 upgrades will walk all over a ZL1, a Z06 Vette, Porsches, $250,000 Pro Touring Cars and more. The L/28 is at worst, the fifth fastest road course car competing in the OPTIMA. You would be in the same performance envelope.

#2 on this list is a 1LE with heads, cam, headers, Pedders Permagrin, Supercars, 6 pot fronts and Cobalt Friction pads.

#4 is a race car driven by a professional.

CamaroCross
Top 10 Fastest Cars
Camaro5Fest 4

99 ....Danny Popp........34.868 - LPE / Pedders
29....Todd Rumpkey.....35.344 - Raymond's Performance / Pedders
725..Jordan Priestly.....35.429 - JDP Motorsports / Pfadt
8......Ryan Matthews....35.516 - Detroit Speed / JRI
3......Rob Anderson......35.570 - Wretched Motorsports / Pedders
40....Tim Martin............35.997
17....Scott McAdams....36.761 Pedders
13....Mike Rupp............36.797 Pedders

54....Bryan Johnson.....37.326
5......Benjamin Parker..37.576 Pedders

1LE plus mods is a bad axx automobile.

My guess is about the same..

37500 for a 1SS 1LE and 15000 should cover mods with labor. If you turned the wrenches that price could be driven down by about a third.... IMO
