Is this something I need worry about?
After a LONG time of waiting, I finally ordered my new wheels and tires this afternoon and think I may have made a minor mistake. On my 2011 LT I'm upgrading the stock 18" wheels with 245/55/R18s to 20" Vision Legend 5's in chrome finish fitted with Continental Extreme Contact DWS06 Plus tires. However, I ordered these in 255/45/R20s as they were $15 less a piece than the 245/45/R20s. This change in tire height introduces a 1 mph error in my Speedometer at 65 mph (which doesn't seem like a big deal since it's a small margin). However, I've read this change also impacts the odometer as well. I'm sure this is a very simple question, but I don't deal with tire sizing on a regular basis. This is my first time installing upgraded wheels on a vehicle and I thought I'd done all my research. I was just going off the recommended tire sizes for 20" wheels for 2010 Camaro in the stickied thread here. I ordered in store through Discount Tire and they will be doing the install. I'm more concerned with error in odometer reading that the Speedometer really. Thanks for any feedback. I'm probably worried about nothing but want to be sure.

I have oversized tires on my truck. Speedo and odo are off by 3 mph. I guess that means I get 3 free miles per 60 miles driven.

If you were off more, like 10%, I would suggest that it can be adjusted with a tune, but 1 mph is not a big deal.

Thank you
Thanks for feedback! I'm not going to worry about it for now, but a buddy at work has a friend with a shop and calibration tools who will likely re-calibrate my speedo as a favor. If that's an option I might as well take advantage of it.

Leave it. When it comes time to sell or trade, the odometer will read shorter than actual.
