How about some better seats? A grippy cloth sport set would nice.

Speaking of seats, I wouldn't be surprised to see the memory position option some were asking for...since it is standard in the new "SS".

As much as I agree with you, I have to disagree also. 1. You cannot take a fully loaded SS/1LE and compare the pricing to a base ZL1. That's cheating and skewing the numbers to prove a point. A base 1SS/1LE is $38k (rounded off of course) and gives all of the performance a fully loaded 1LE has to offer. And $54k base price does not include the mandatory GG tax. Also a fully loaded ZL1 is over $60k so if you want to compare fully loaded, compare fully loaded. Once you compare a base 1LE to a base ZL1 (including the GG tax) you are at over $15k. So $15k is actually a fair comparison. 2. Straight line performance on a 1LE with an added dose of forced induction and long tube headers will easily beat a stock ZL1 in a straight line and eat up less than $10k of that budget. Throw in some coilovers and bushings and you can walk away from a ZL1 on a road course. All of that and probably still under the $15k price differential. So there is no doubt that you can build a faster car. Hell, for the price of a ZL1 you can get a used Z06 vette. So lets not pretend that the ZL1 is the end all of performance cars and that no other car can come close for the money. That is in no way the case. What is true is that the modified 1LE will quickly become a 1 trick pony that will be less comfortable in daily use situations. It will never have the MR suspension that makes the car far more flexible in its ability to be a track monster and have great road manners. NOt to mention you will never have a warranty or the exclusivity that comes with a stock ZL1. So I agree that each one is a great deal in and of itself. But lets be honest about the capability of the 1LE package. Remember, the 1LE is sitting on many of the same suspension parts as your ZL1 so it only makes sense that it is easily capable of exceeding the capability of the more powerful ZL1.

I should have specified, doesn't include below invoice pricing, etc as some ppl have paid for MSRP and higher with premiums. If that was the case then there are others who managed to get a ZL1 below invoice surprisingly. I'm one who only paid $41k for my 1LE which was fully loaded. Guess it all depends...

When you eventually order your car get it with the options you want because if you dont you will regret it down the road . For me the 2ss , rs package 1le package , navagation and duel exhaust are must haves. you can offset some of the cost by looking for incentives to pay for them. Ex $1000 cash offers , military disc , Costco disc , gm offers , gm credit card credits and employee pricing.

If the LS7 has a real possibility becoming a real street legal option for the SS/1LE (not COPO); then I might have to wait and see.
I don't really care if they call it Z-28 or not. |
